Packers Calendar: NFL Combine Gets Underway

Green Bay will have the opportunity to interview offensive linemen, tight ends and specialists on Tuesday.

Although you'll see little coverage of the event, the annual NFL Scouting Combine actually begins in Indianapolis on Tuesday. That's because the NFL doesn't allow the media access until Wednesday.

Players arrives in waves with Group 1 coming to town on Tuesday, which includes tight ends, offensive linemen and specialists.

The reason the media doesn't come until Wednesday is because the events on the calendar are rather mundane.

Upon arrival in Indianapolis, players will go through registration followed by orientation.

NFL prospects will also travel to the hospital where they'll undergo a pre-exam and take x-rays.

Finally, the part where the Green Bay Packers come into the picture, players will also have an opportunity to interview with NFL teams.

In years past, the Packers and all teams were allowed to interview 60 prospects in a formal environment, although quite a few informal interviews also take place.

Players representing the rest of the positions won't arrive until later in the week with Group 2 (quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs) convening Wednesday, Group 3 (defensive linemen and linebackers) coming Thursday and Group 4 (defensive backs) arriving Friday.
