Packers Select Tulane QB Michael Pratt in 2024 NFL Draft - Round 7

The Packers choose athleticism with their 7th round quarterback.

Michael Pratt, QB, Tulane

MEASURABLES/PRO DAY:

HT: 6'2" WT: 217 HAND: 9 1/4 ARM: 30 3/4 40-YD: 4.42

CAREER NOTES:

Pratt completed 729 of 1,203 passes (60.6%) for 9,603 yards with 90 TDs and 26 INTs. He also added 1,147 rushing yards and 26 rushing scores. He has passing yards and passing touchdowns career records at Tulane.

FIT WITH THE PACKERS:

Very athletic scout team player that could potentially push for a roster spot. What will separate him in training camp is his athleticism.

COMMENTARY:

"He can throw it with touch, he can throw it with velocity. He can get outside the pocket. He can throw it down the middle. His future might not ultimately be Green Bay, because it will be Jordan Love's show. He's going to play somewhere. He is going to play somehwere." — ESPN's Louis Riddick.

Based on Gutekunt's comments on getting back to drafting and developing QB's, we knew that one would be taken. I guessed Kedon Slovis, this kid has possibilities as well.

Is there a real possibility that he pushes out any QB already on the roster? I would've rather seen a LS, the position we all overlooked a year ago. How much our LS contributed to all the missed kicks we may never know, but it was substantial. I expect Gutey to bring in competition, either from UDFA or off somebody's practice squad, or something.

The draft panel seemed shocked he fell so far. Amusing fact: he led Tulane to victory over Caleb Williams' USC in the 2023 Cotton Bowl.

A qb sneak -
Maybe Love can learn from him.
I'm kidding.

Wow, 5 downvotes on a reply to Stockholder. I'm jealous, I usually only get three!

No doubt, he's a steal. Had some big time games for Tulane in AAC league play. He should have gone in the 4th.

I am really glad they took a QB like Pratt to develop. He has a lot of talent and should ramp up competition for Clifford. The Packers need a good young QB to fill in for a few games should Love get hurt.

Wow his measurables sound familiar aka Rogers. Who knows could be our starter by end of season. Lol
Him and our running back may be our draft.
Serious head scratching on many of these picks. Lot of under sized slow players. Apparently Gutt doesn't pay attention to injury history, speed or size. Or picking talent from top schools

You’re right. Gute is an idiot who has done nothing to build this roster. He’s a terrible talent evaluators

Have you been traumatized by being raised a Vikings fan?

Do you need a hug, lil' buddy?

Pretty smooth delivery. Making it look easy for him. Good back-up for now...maybe trade him off after a year with our QB coach for a decent draft pick. Looks like he could start in the NFL pretty soon. GPG

Lindy's annual draft magazine had him rated above Spencer Rattler, Joe Milton, and even MICHAEL PENIX (8TH PICK IN THE FIRST-ROUND)!

A lot of similarities between this kid and Clifford. He has a feel-good story, I'm glad the Packers drafted him. Draft, develop and trade, just like the good old days :)

I like the pick and think it's an excellent value. The big knock on him seems to be arm strength, but he has good fundamentals and competitive instincts. Definitely could push for a roster spot.

I watched him some tonight and it was kind of weird. I don't know about any injuries but some of his deeper throws looked effortless and others it was like he really had to work to get some mustard on it. Could be inconsistent mechanics but he has a ton of experience and won a lot of games albeit in a smaller conference. Clifford better bring his a game to TC or he could find himself on the PS.

I agree Chesty. His highlights make him look like a first-round worthy QB.
If he can be coached into consistency, he looks way more talented than Clifford.
