Tennessee Titans seventh-round defensive tackle David Howard plead no contest to a misdemeanor assault charge in Providence, Rhode Island, the Associated Press reports.

Howard was arrested last April and accused of kicking and punching a patron at a bar where Howard worked as a bouncer. If Howard stays out of trouble for one year, the charge will be expunged from his record.

A first-team All-Ivy League selection the last two seasons at Brown University, the 6-3, 293-pound Howard signed a four-year, $1.83 million dollar contract with the Titans on June 15 that included a signing bonus of just under $45,000.

Howard is considered to be a project for Titans defensive line coach Jim Washburn to work with this season.
