Steelers Re-Sign LS Matt Stewart

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they have re-signed long-snapper Matt Stewart.

First-year wide receiver Isaiah Williams has been released.

A fourth-round pick (102nd overall) by the Atlanta Falcons in 2001, Stewart totaled 291 tackles, including 8 quarterback sacks, and an interception in 93 games with the Falcons (2001-04) and Cleveland Browns (2006). Stewart missed the 2007 season with a shoulder injury, and went to training camp with the Arizona Cardinals in 2008. Stewart totaled six tackles during the pre-season, but was released at the end of training camp and did not hook on with another team.

Stewart spent last summer with the Dallas Cowboys, but did not make the 53-man roster and spent the season out of football.

The Steelers signed Stewart, who is reinventing himself as a long-snapper, in June, but released him on July 30.
