Seahawks Talking Contract With Vincent Jackson

Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reports the Seattle Seahawks have been granted permission by the San Diego Chargers to talk contract with restricted free agent wide receiver Vincent Jackson.
Terms of a potential trade are unknown, as Chargers general manager A.J. Smith declined to comment.
Jackson has not signed his one-year restricted free agent tender, which the Chargers have reduced from $3.268 million to $583,000. Jackson is seeking a long-term deal worth nearly $10 million annually, and is reportedly willing to sit out until midway through the season before reporting to the Chargers.
San Diego has been unwilling to meet his contractual demands, due in no small part to Jackson's off-field issues. Jackson has multiple DUIs, and has been suspended by the National Football League for the first three games of the 2010 season.
The 6-5, 241-pound Jackson is coming off his first Pro Bowl season, setting career-highs with 68 receptions for 1,167 yards and 9 touchdowns. The former second-round pick out of Northern Colorado has 198 receptions for 3,400 yards and 25 touchdowns during his 70-game career, all with the Chargers.
Seattle has been rumored to be interested in adding a big, physical receiver throughout the off-season, using a seaplane to fly then-Denver Broncos restricted free agent Brandon Marshall to their waterfront headquarters in Renton, Washington in March. Seattle was not willing to meet Marshall's contract demands, and Marshall was traded to the Miami Dolphins for a pair of second-round picks.
The Chargers, who already possess the Seahawks' third-round pick in 2011 from the Charlie Whitehurst trade, can expect to receive similar compensation in any trade involving Jackson.
