Seahawks Place LB Leroy Hill on IR

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill's 2010 season has officially come to an end, with the team placing the sixth-year linebacker on injured reserve.

Hill, who was suspended for the 2010 season-opener for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, suffered a "significant" injury to his calf/Achilles in Seattle's Week Two loss to the Denver Broncos.

The 6-1, 238-pound Hill has missed significant time with injuries the last three years.

A stinger against the Dallas Cowboys in 2008 ended his season, and after signing a six-year, $36 million contract, a torn groin muscle in the first quarter of the 2009 season-opener kept him out of five games. Hill posted career-lows in games (11) and tackles (46), and for the second straight season, posted just one quarterback sack in 2009.

Hill re-structured his contract prior to this season, lowering his base salary from $6 million to $2.125 million, with the ability to earn an additional $1.185 million via playing-time incentives. Hill will not reach those incentives, and today's transaction likely ends his tenure with the team.

To take Hill's place on the 53-man roster, the Seahawks re-signed defensive tackle Craig Terrill.

A sixth-round pick (189th overall) in 2004 out of Purdue by the Seahawks, Terrill totaled 93 tackles and 8 quarterback sacks in 76 games before he was released on September 7. Terrill also blocked four field goals over the last six seasons, second-most in Seahawks' history.
