The Oakland Raiders announced the signing of seventh-round safety Stevie Brown.

Financial terms of the four-year deal were not disclosed.

Brown (5-11, 212) totaled 215 tackles, including 2 quarterback sacks, and 4 interceptions during a 50-game career at the University of Michigan. Brown started 25 games, including 12 in each of the last two seasons. Brown began his college career at safety, but moved to outside linebacker for the 2009 season.

Brown has the speed (4.51-40), athleticism (posted a 10’02” broad jump and 34.5” vertical leap), and tackling ability to play strong safety in the NFL, but is behind Tyvon Branch and 2009 second-round pick Mike Mitchell and will need to impress on special teams to stick on the 53-man roster this summer.

With Brown signed, the Raiders have seven of their nine picks in the 2010 NFL Draft under contract. First-round linebacker Rolando McClain and second-round defensive end Lamarr Houston remain unsigned.

Raiders players are scheduled to report for training camp on July 28.
