Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith has been activated from the PUP list, Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer reports.

Smith is recovering from a broken left forearm, which the four-time Pro Bowler sustained during a flag football game during the off-season. Smith broke the same arm in a different spot in a Week 16 win over the New York Giants last December.

Since suffering the latest break in June, Smith has been expected to return to practice by mid-August, so today's development is a confirmation that Smith remains on target to play against the Giants on September 12.
