Panthers Sign RB Dantrell Savage

The Carolina Panthers signed running back Dantrell Savage, Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer reports.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Cornerback Marcus Walker was "Waived/Injured".

Signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State in 2008, the 5-8, 182-pound Savage has gained 98 yards and 25 carries over 13 games between 2008-09, adding 9 receptions for 51 yards out of the backfield. Savage has also averaged 23.3 yards on 34 kick returns, 3.8 yards on 14 punt returns, and made four special teams tackles.

Savage was cut by the Chiefs on March 3.

With Jonathan Stewart (Achilles') on the physically unable to perform list, and Tyrell Sutton nursing a calf injury, Savage can take some of the reps from DeAngelo Williams, Mike Goodson, and Josh Vaughan.
