Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis opened the season on the "Reserve/PUP" after re-tearing the ACL in his right knee during a June OTA session. Davis has been rehabbing the injury, and is eyeing a November return, reports Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer.

"I've been running for a while now, but today was the first day it felt really good. No pain, just straight-out running," Davis said on Thursday. "I had my (knee) brace on. I'm not making that mistake again."

Prior to the torn ACL that ended his 2009 season, Davis had 61 tackles, 1.5 quarterback sacks, and a pair of interceptions, and was perhaps headed to the first Pro Bowl of his career.

Davis' injury also occurred during the final year of his rookie contract. The sixth-year linebacker from Georgia is scheduled to make $3.268 million in base salary under the "First- and Third-Round" restricted free agent tender the Panthers extended to him in February.
