MRI to Determine Extent of Dizon's Injury

Detroit Lions third-year linebacker Jordon Dizon expects to miss the 2010 season after suffering a significant knee injury in last night's pre-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dizon is believed to have a torn ACL, and could possibly have a torn MCL, as well. The full extent of the damage won't be known until an MRI is performed, and Gregg Rosenthal of ProFootballTalk.com reports that swelling is Dizon's knee will need to subside before one can be taken.

A second-round pick (45th overall) out of Colorado in 2008, Dizon has appeared in 28 games for the Lions, totaling 57 tackles and a quarterback sack. Dizon led Lions in special teams tackles (10) in 2009, and has also recovered a pair of fumbles on special teams the last two seasons.

Dizon had been working behind DeAndre Levy at middle linebacker during training camp, and added depth at weak-side linebacker.
