Lions Sign G Rob Sims to 4-Year Contract Extension

The Detroit Lions have signed guard Rob Sims to a four-year contract extension, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports.

Financial terms were not disclosed. A restricted free agent this off-season, Sims was tendered at the "Original Round" level, which included a $1.176 million base salary for the 2010 season.

Sims (6-3, 312) spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks, who chose him in the fourth-round (128th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. Sims started 34 of his 45 games with the Seahawks, including 14 games in 2009 after a torn pectoral muscle in the 2008 season-opener cost him most of that season.

The Seahawks traded Sims to the Detroit Lions on April 5 in exchange for a fifth-round pick (133rd overall, used on safety Kam Chancellor) in the 2010 NFL Draft. Sims is the Lions' starting left guard.
