Lions Re-Sign LB Lee Campbell

The Detroit Lions have re-signed rookie linebacker Lee Campell, John Rickert, Campbell's agent, announced.

Campbell (6-2, 247) was a three-year starter at the University of Minnesota, converting from defensive end to inside linebacker during his final two seasons with the Gophers. Campbell totaled 250 tackles, including 23 for a loss, 7 quarterback sacks, and three interceptions during his career.

Undrafted in April, Campbell signed with the New York Giants, who waived him after the completion of the OTAs. Claimed by the Lions on June 22, Campbell was cut at the start of training camp.

Campbell will likely take the roster spot of back-up middle linebacker Jordon Dizon, who will miss the 2010 season with a knee injury.
