Lions Move Amari Spievey to Safety

The Detroit Lions are moving third-round cornerback Amari Spievey to safety, reports Tom Kowalski of MLive.com.

Spievey (5-11, 195) totaled 142 tackles, 6 interceptions, and 20 total passes defensed during his two seasons at Iowa, and was expected to compete with Jonathan Wade and Chris Houston for a starting job.

A leg injury during the OTAs kept Spievey from proving he could play man coverage, and a move to safety could take advantage of Spievey's speed, instincts and ball skills.
