Lions Agree to Terms With CB Dre Bly

John Niyo of the Detroit News reports that the Detroit Lions have agreed to a two-year deal with veteran cornerback Dre Bly.

A second-round pick (41st overall) out of North Carolina by the St. Louis Rams in 1999, Bly signed a five-year, $24.5 million dollar contract with the Lions after the 2002 season. In four seasons with the Lions, Bly totaled 189 tackles and 19 interceptions, returning two for touchdowns and earning trips to the Pro Bowl after the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

Bly was traded to the Denver Broncos for George Foster, Tatum Bell, and a fifth-round pick, and signed a five-year extension with Denver that included $16 million dollars in guarantees. Bly started 32 games for the Broncos, intercepting 7 passes.

The Broncos released Bly last off-season, and he signed with the San Francisco 49ers. In 16 games, including six starts, Bly had 29 tackles and 3 interceptions.

In 167 career games, the 33-year old Bly has 43 interceptions and 104 passes defensed.
