Jets to Re-Sign QB Kevin O'Connell

Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger has confirmed a report by a San Diego radio station that the New York Jets will re-sign quarterback Kevin O'Connell to a two-year contract.
O'Connell was waived by the Jets on August 31, famously documented during the fourth episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks" series. O'Connell sought a second opinion on his throwing shoulder, which revealed a torn labrum that will require surgery and months of rehab.
By re-signing O'Connell to a two-year deal, the Jets will place O'Connell on injured reserve for the 2010 season, administer his rehab and have him under contract to compete for a back-up job in 2011.
In two NFL games, both with the New England Patriots during his rookie season in 2008, O'Connell has completed 4-of-6 pass attempts for 23 yards.
