Jaguars DT D'Anthony Smith Injures Achilles

acksonville Jaguars third-round defensive tackle D'Anthony Smith has an Achilles' tendon injury, Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union reports.

Stellino adds that an MRI confirmed that surgery is needed, and Smith will be out indefinitely.

The 6-2, 300-pound Smith started 44 of his 49 games at Louisiana Tech, totaling 197 tackles, including 24 for a loss and 12 quarterback sacks. One of four defensive lineman the Jaguars drafted in 2010, Smith was expected to be part of the team's tackle rotation this season.

Smith signed a four-year, $2.64 million contract on July 20. His deal included an $850,000 signing bonus.
