Falcons Release QB D.J. Shockley

The Atlanta Falcons have released veteran quarterback D.J. Shockley, Alexis Stevens of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

A seventh-round pick (223rd overall) out of the University of Georgia by the Falcons in 2006, Shockley has yet to appear in a regular season game during his four-year career. In four pre-seasons worth of action, Shockley has completed 43.3% of his pass attempts for 603 yards with two touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Shockley also ran for 107 yards on 19 attempts.

Shockley spent 2007 on injured reserve, and with the arrival of John Parker Wilson, was waived at the end of last year's training camp. Shockley spent nearly two-thirds of last season on the Falcons' practice squad.
