Falcons DT Corey Peters to Undergo MRI

Atlanta Falcons third-round defensive tackle Corey Peters left Thursday night's pre-season game against the New England Patriots with a left knee injury.

D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Peters is scheduled to undergo an MRI this morning.

"I kind of got doubled teamed and my knee popped...we’ll see what happens," Peters said. "You never want to think the worst about certain things. I’m just going to want until the morning and see what the doctor has to say."

Reports out of Atlanta are that Peters (6-3, 300) has had a solid training camp and, if healthy, would start the regular season-opener while Jonathan Babineaux serves his one-game suspension. After losing first-round pick Peria Jerry early in the 2009 season, Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff, head coach Mike Smith, and defensive coordinator Brian Van Gorder are hoping for good news on Peters this morning.
