Dolphins Sign LB Micah Johnson

After losing inside linebacker A.J. Edds for the season to a torn ACL, the Miami Dolphins have added rookie free agent linebacker Micah Johnson, David Neal of the Miami Herald reports.

Johnson (6-2, 258) posted 285 tackles during his four years at the University of Kentucky, earning all-SEC honors three times. Johnson battled knee injuries throughout his senior season, and injured his MCL during the Music City Bowl in December.

Johnson ran a 4.99 time in the 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine in February, and put up 31 reps in the bench press, but did not hear his name called during the 2010 NFL Draft.

After participating in the New York Giants' post-draft mini-camp on a tryout basis, Johnson was offered a contract and went through the team's OTAs and mini-camps before being waived on June 21.
