Darren Sharper to Begin Free Agent Tour
By admin
Free agent safety Darren Sharper is beginning to make the free agent rounds, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Schefter reports that Sharper's tour will begin with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and that he could be headed to the Dallas Cowboys, as well. Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports that the Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins may also be in the mix for Sharper's services.
Sharper, 34, had a Pro Bowl season with the New Orleans Saints in 2009, totaling 71 tackles and tying for the league lead in interceptions with 9, helping the Saints win their first Super Bowl in franchise history.
New Orleans has expressed interest in bringing Sharper back for the 2010 season.
A second-round pick out of William & Mary by the Green Bay Packers in 1997, Sharper has 63 interceptions, and 11 touchdowns, during a 14-year career with the Packers (1997-2004), Minnesota Vikings (2005-08) and Saints (2009).
The five-time Pro Bowler was named to the NFL's All-Decade Team for the 2000s in January, and is coming off knee surgery.
