The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and director of pro personnel Doug Williams have mutually agreed to part ways, reports Charlie Campbell and Scott Reynolds of PewterReport.com.

Williams, a first-round pick (17th overall) by the Buccaneers in 1978, spent 5 seasons with the Buccaneers, leading the team to a 33-33-1 record and the franchise's first playoff berth. Williams finished his playing career with the Washington Redskins, earning MVP honors after the Redskins' 42-10 win over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXII.

After his playing days were over, Williams got involved in coaching at the high school level, and served some coaching internships with Tulane University and did some scouting for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Williams ultimately succeeded the legendary college coach Eddie Robinson at Grambling, Williams' alma mater.

Williams left Grambling to accept a front office position with the Buccaneers, and was promoted to his current position last year.
