Browns to Hire Dick Jauron for DC Position

The Cleveland Browns are expected to hire Dick Jauron for their defensive coordinator position, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports.

Jauron, 60, has had defensive coordinator stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars (1995-98) and Detroit Lions (2004-05), which has led to head coaching opportunities with the Chicago Bears (1999-2003), Lions (interim, 2005), and Buffalo Bills, where Jauron coached from 2006 before he was fired late in the 2009 season.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid hired his former colleague from the Green Bay Packers to coach the Eagles secondary in 2010.

The Eagles granted permission for Jauron to interview with the Browns, who also interviewed Dave Wannstedt and former Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Bill Davis for a position that opened up when Rob Ryan accepted the Dallas Cowboys' coordinator job.
