Browns Reach Deal With 6th Round WR Carlton Mitchell

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports the Cleveland Browns have reached agreement on a four-year contract with sixth-round wide receiver Carlton Mitchell.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Based on slotting, the deal is likely worth $1.903 million dollars, with a signing bonus of around $113,000.

Mitchell caught 105 passes for 1,648 yards and 9 touchdowns during a three-year career at the University of South Florida, opting to forgo his senior year of eligibility to enter the 2010 NFL Draft. Michell was a two-year starter for the Bulls, earning third-team All-Big East honors after last season.

Mitchell ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46-seconds, and displayed a 36” vertical leap at the 2010 Scouting Combine.,

The 6-2, 207-pound Mitchell is a big, physical receiver, who should make an immediate impact in the red-zone. The knock on Mitchell was that he tended to catch the ball with his body, but Mitchell impressed the coaching staff with his receiving skills during OTAs and could see playing time as a rookie.
