Bengals LB Rey Maualuga Avoids Suspension

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga will not be suspended by the NFL for his January DUI, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Maualuga will be fined two game checks, however, which will cost him $46,471 in base salary.

Maualuga was arrested in Covington, Kentucky in the early morning hours of January 29 after striking a parking meter and two parked cars. Maualuga plead guilty to the charges in February and entered a rehab facility later that month.

The 38th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft out of USC, Maualuga started 15 games during his rookie season, totaling 63 tackles, 1 quarterback sack, two passes defensed, and three forced fumbles before being placed on injured reserve with a broken ankle.

Maualuga entered training camp as the Bengals' starting strong-side linebacker.
