The San Francisco 49ers have signed free agent kicker Shane Andrus, Matthew Barrows of The Sacramento Bee reports.

Andrus beat out Swayze Waters and Garrett Lindholm for the temporary position while Joe Nedney recovers from a knee injury on his plant leg.

In five games last season with the Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaners, and the 2009 regular season finale with the 49ers, Andrus went 10-for-10 on extra point attempts and missed his one field goal attempt. (From 43 yards out with the Buccaneers vs. Carolina)
