49ers Release WR Brandon Jones

The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have released veteran wide receiver Brandon Jones.

Jones signed a five-year, $16 million contract, which included $5.4 million in guarantees, with the 49ers last off-season. In eight games for the 49ers, Jones caught one pass for 18 yards and returned 9 punts for 26 yards.

A third-round pick out of Oklahoma by the Tennessee Titans in 2005, Jones (6-1, 212) has 113 receptions for 1,398 yards and 9 touchdowns during his 49-game career.

Offensive tackle Chris Patrick has been "Waived/Injured".
