Wary of lingering members of the Denver Broncos, the San Francisco 49ers ran phony plays during their now infamous Saturday walk-through at Wembley Stadium on October 30, Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports.

"We lined up in different formations and did a bunch of crazy stuff...We didn't even run any of our plays," one unidentified player said on Saturday.

After an investigation by the National Football League, the Broncos were fined $50,000 for the incident, with Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels receiving a $50,000 for failing to immediately disclose the incident, which occurred the day before the 49ers' 24-16 win over the Broncos.

Steve Scarnecchia, the Broncos' video director who filmed six minutes of the 49ers' walk-through, has been fired with cause and may be barred from working in the National Football League.

Scarnecchia and McDaniels were both employed by the New England Patriots from 2001-04, with Scarnecchia moving on to the University of Colorado in 2005 and the New York Jets, where he worked from 2006 through 2009, when he reunited with McDaniels in 2009.

Scarnecchia's previous employment with the Patriots, who were found to have secretly and illegally filmed opposing coaching signals during his tenure in Foxborough, is why the NFL is considering this a second offense necessitating a lifetime ban.
