What To Expect From Green Bay's Game In Brazil
Get ready to learn Portuguese, Packers' fans!
Next week, the Green Bay Packers will take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Neo Química Arena, also known as Corinthians Arena, in São Paulo, Brazil. This matchup marks the first NFL regular-season game in Brazil.
It will be the sixth straight year without a home opener at Lambeau Field. Notably, this continues Matt LaFleur’s streak of not having a Week 1 game at Lambeau since he took over as head coach.
The Packers have a massive following in Brazil, making them the most popular NFL team in the country. Green Bay supporters from across Brazil and South America will be gathering in São Paulo by Friday. However, fans representing all 32 teams are expected to attend the game, and there’s a strong chance of a significant neutral audience.
While a home-field advantage for the Packers isn’t guaranteed, it’s almost certain that this won’t feel like an Eagles home game. The game could easily tilt in favor of the Packers in terms of crowd support. From a competitive standpoint, Green Bay has the potential to play up to ten games with a supportive environment this season, while facing just seven true road games.
The weather forecast for Friday in São Paulo is favorable. While it's warmer than the Packers might prefer, it's well below Brazil's typical high temperatures. The temperature is expected to reach 82°F, with a low of 61°F.
São Paulo offers a vibrant culinary scene, with everything from traditional Brazilian fare to international cuisine. The city’s diverse restaurants serve up a variety of delicious options, while its premier shopping malls provide ample retail opportunities. No matter the time, São Paulo ensures there's always something to do, keeping the city lively and engaging around the clock.
There was a high demand for tickets to the game, leaving many fans without access. Consequently, many people will flock to watch parties at bars and venues throughout São Paulo. This will provide another opportunity for fans to come together and experience the game in a communal setting. For many, it will be their first time tailgating for a football game.
Whether you're a Green Bay fan living abroad or from Brazil, if you're in São Paulo, get ready to experience a lifetime event. Brazilian sports fans are known for their passion, and this will certainly extend to football, or as many of us call it, "American Football."

Though I’m not a big fan one in season international games from a sporting perspective, I am looking forward to seeing the reception in Sao Poalo. I hope that there are a lot of relative locals in the crowd, not just expats or tourists and that we get to witness Packer support Brazilian style. Your enthusiasm is infectious, in English or Portuguese!

It seems many countries including ours are jumping over to the socialist camp. Doesn't make sense to me. You have to admit socialism SOUNDS so warm and fuzzy. It is so amazing to see the first amendment being attacked like never before. This is why people hate Democrats . That said. tis best we keep politics off Cheesehead.

Yes, indeed. Get this Foreigner off the Subsidy List of the U.S. taxpayer. Remove His space-X welfare package and get back to funding NASA and American engineers. 1A as in keeping State separated from religious zealots and manichean simpletons. The Nazis can always glean their Neues on the encrypted message land of the GRU.

We currently exist in a polarized society where either side is certain of their point of view and feels justified making denigrating comments.
There is a reason why discussions re: politics/religion should remain outside of polite company. We have forgotten how to 'agree to disagree' or allow the benefit of the doubt.

It's not up to me to make that decision for you. And it's not up to you to make that decision for me. There were lots of things said during the Covid scare that I thought were disinformation, but I only made that decision for me, not for anybody else.

Well. Private websites can be regulated. Brazil can do as it wishes, the fact is people were using XHITTER to foment revolution thru disinformation. That may sound familiar to discerning readers.

I still don't get it why NFL teams are now playing games in foreign countries. Personally, I think it stinks. Luckily it is an away game. This year the term "away" has new meaning.

Man, you need help choosing a lane. How can the NFL (a socialist entity, btw) continue to grow its business if it doesn't enter new markets?

One of the beautiful ironies is that many of these proud collectivist owners of shares of packer stock bleat on and on about "socialism" and it's evils. All the while collecting "social" security, while relying on medicare to get their prescription drugs and offset the cost of healthcare.
It must be a hard swallow when you realize what public ownership actually means. Don't get me started when they proudly boast of their Swedish/Norwegian/Danish ancestry.

"sixth straight year without a home opener at Lambeau Field"
Something is wrong with NFL scheduling. This simply should not happen, not to any team's fanbase. Opening day is a special day, and every NFL team should get its share.

Will the fires prevent the game from being played? 49,414 acres are on fire and cities are suffering from the smoke.

I find some of these comments interesting , especially the ones about free speech.
Free speech is just that, free. It will often be controversial, it might be offensive, disagreeable, misinformation, malinformation, but it is free speech. Free speech as we know it should not be infringed upon by our government but as we have seen in the recent past it actually has been. Free speech and censorship is something the government should not dabble in but it has. Free speech does have consequences. You can actually be fired for your viewpoints as many have found out. You can be banned, ostrasized, banned, or even downvoted (oh no!).
I find it rather funny that the MLB moved the All-Star game from Atlanta to protest Georgia election laws, like showing an actual ID to vote, but the NFL is perfectly fine with having a game in Brazil while a Supreme Court justice in Brazil has deemed X (formerly Twitter) illegal and very blatantly ruled against free speech. The NFL apparently is not on the side of human rights on this one? Yeah, so be it.
You can hate on Elon Musk all you want. The man spent over $40 billion of his own money to buy Twitter, now X, and then turned over the files of the former company to credentialed investigative reporters like Matt Taibbi, Bari Weiss, and Mike Shellenberger. What did they find? There was an actual censorship apparatus in place. Hey, how bout that? What did we recently find out from Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook? Yeah, the government was involved with Facebook too. How bout that? Elon Musk probably did more freedom of speech in this country than many would want to admit. Let's just remember that 51 current and former intel people signed off on a letter of complete and total BS (proven).
Football site, right? Let's stay in our lane. Go Pack go and let's pull for a win in Brazil. I'll be watching to see just how Cooper Dejean does as he was a draft crush of many.

"Football site, right? Let's stay in our lane." That sentence has a lot more power when you actually stay in your lane while trying to remind others to do the same.
But, I guess now that you've got -your- words in edgewise, NOW we should all stay in our lanes and talk football, huh? lol.
Good stuff, Mitch.
If you want to see how someone actually does this in a genuine manner, see NFLfan's post in this comment section.
