Report: Packers Offensive Lineman Don Barclay Suffers Torn ACL
Losing Barclay would be a blow to the depth along the Packers offensive line.
According to Wes Hodkiewicz of the Green Bay Press-Gazette:
Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Don Barclay suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during Tuesday afternoon's practice at Nitschke Field, according to a league source.
There has yet to be any official word from the team, confirming the ACL tear.
Assuming the accuracy of the report, Barclay almost assuredly would be lost for the entirety of the 2014 season.
Losing Barclay would also be a blow to the depth of the Packers offensive line.
Considered a top backup at both tackle and guard positions, the Packers will have to rely on players perhaps further down the depth chart.

Packer tears hamstring/ACL. Water is wet. I thought this website was devoted to NEWS?

This website is devoted to Green Bay Packers fans worldwide.
Some Packers fans want to know when any Packer suffers a serious injury.
Some of them want to use the comment section as a place to expose their ignorance.
We welcome both.

Bingo.
I suppose it makes sense that only the resident "troll" would understand what I'm trying to say.

Yeah... that was just my (apparently ineffective) way of lamenting the routine nature of our incessantly bloated injured reserve.
I didn't actually have a problem with the report.

This means we need more out of Sherrod than I am comfortable with.

I'm feeling pretty good about Sherrod.
I'm just hoping that L.Taylor can man the back-up positions behind TJ.Lang and J.Sitton effectively.

I like Sherrod too. I feel good about Sherrod and STRONG-ASS Corey Linsley as the 2 backups. Linsley lifted the whole God-damn Ohio State Bleachers off the ground during some examined period he had with the media. Well not exactly but he had an amazing run at the combine as far as bench presses.

1st off,Bulaga is going to have to (at least) get back to pre-injury form and progress from there and Sherrod will have to be a serviceable T.
I don't know what to think about the LG/C/RG backup spots now.

Lets see, my idea last year was Rogers of primary inportance and he can't throw unless he has time. Ted disregards some very fine O linemen in the first three rounds and it was disaster.
This year lets put a ditto there.
Sherrod is a total bum. Beluga gets hurt tripping over chalk lines. Great when healthy which is never, and now we lose a big one.
Don't expect much passing game this year. Rogers is a gonner.

Guess we have to start sacrificing small animals or something because that's about the only thing this team hasn't tried to quell the injury epidemic.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately the Pack might have to carry a ninth o-lineman(probably a tackle) to replace Barclay. Taylor, Linsley/Tretter are more inside guys. With Barclay they had guard, center and tackle covered. Maybe not ideal at center, but he'd do in a pinch.
This also means they cut from the 53 a guy they might want to protect and develop for the future. Putting a good prospect on the PS is a crapshoot. Good chance you'll lose him.
In addition, for active game day rosters they might have to add an extra o-lineman to cover these positions. This person will take up a spot, but not get on the field.
With Barclay you know what you have. These other guys could be OK, or complete disasters. I don't see any silver-lining here.
The irony for Hubbard is he might be the guy getting cut so they can carry an extra o-lineman.

If Bakhtiari gets hurt Sherrod steps in. If Bulaga gets hurt they kick Bakhtiari over to RT and Sherrod takes left tackle. They're ok. Sherrod was a 1st round pick for a reason.
Sherrod just needs to get plenty of reps this preseason to shake the rust off.
The only reason this might be an issue is they may not be able to carry 3 qbs.
The bigger headline should be "Cow Posts Positive Comments: 4thand1 Injures Hip Falling Out Of Chair".

"If Bulaga gets hurt they kick Bakhtiari over to RT and Sherrod takes left tackle."
I'd rather they keep Bak where he is and just plug in Sherrod.

I only said Bakhtiari would move because Sherrod's rep coming out of college was as a "finesse" tackle more suited to play the LT. That was definitely not Bakhtiari's rep.

That makes sense. I just hate the musical chairs OL injury shuffle of the old days.
That said, it's arguable that Sherrod-Sitton-Tretter-Lang-Bak or Bak-Sitton-Tretter-Lang-Sherrod is a wash.

Agree we really need Sherrod to be a viable tackle. I've been high on him, and took note of every tweet and Stroh's comments about watching Sherrod at camp. He seemed to be having a pretty good camp. If so, GB might well be okay at tackle.
I have not heard anything about former UDFA Lane Taylor, who was on the bubble before Barclay went down. I did see some positive tweets about McCray. I am more concerned about back-up guard at this point. Maybe the loser at center can get some major reps at guard, but right now it sounds like that is a tight battle.

" Maybe the loser at center can get some major reps at guard..."
That's what I'm thinking too, especially for game-day actives they'll need a guy with versatility.

I like what I've heard about Linsley. It would be great to get him reps at guard, too. After reading Wilde's column on him, he sound solid on and off the field.
