Packers Vs. Titans - 3 Plays That Make You Go Hmmm

Jersey Al picks out three thought-provoking plays from the Packers' last game.

After re-watching the Packers game, here are three plays that made me go hmmm, for various reasons. In general, I try to focus on a theme, the less obvious, or things I didn't notice watching live.

JJ Enagbare, have a day! Just like Eric Wilson last week, Kingsley Enagbare made the most of his snaps as the Packers continue with their plan of getting as many players as possible opportunities to contribute. If you care about these things, Enagbare was the top-rated Packer by PFF with a very high 92.9 score. However, I didn't need PFF to tell me how well he played. Upon a second look, Enagbare contributed in a myriad of ways and affected the game even more than I realized watching live. Here are three examples (no need to show you the strip sack) of how Enagbare was all over the place and how he was used.

Blowing up run plays: Enagbare sees he isn't blocked and there's a lineman pulling to meet him. JJ explodes into the backfield, sidesteps the pulling guard and blows up the play. He doesn't make the tackle, but he disrupts the play and gives his teammates plenty of time to swarm to the ball and tackle the running back.

Not fooled by Screen Pass: Here, Enagbare holds up his rush as he notices the interior linemen letting Wyatt and Clark through with little resistance. He likely suspects some type of middle screen at first, but then locates the running back to his right, meets him in the backfield and shares the tackle with Wyatt for a minimal 2 yard gain. Enagbare shows great awareness here.

Lining up on the Center?  OK, you want wrinkles? How about Enagbare lining up over the center as an interior lineman? And then, he shows explosive speed to blow by the center like he wasn't even there. Hafley is starting to open up his defensive playbook and it's going to be fun to watch. Could our days of safe, boring, and predictable defense really be over?

To answer that last question: they certainly appear to be!

8 minutes left in the game. 13 point game. Titans have the ball. Waiting for our defense to play soft. Then I saw the corners come up playing press, and 5-6 Packers rushing the passer, and saw them dominate that drive with pressure. I don't miss Berry, Pettine or Capers.

Enagbare had a super day. Not to nitpick.... but...

After the sack of Levis, Enagbare turns away from him and faces the sideline, flexing his biceps. What he fails to see is that the ball has been stripped, and is on the ground a few feet away from Levis who is frantically trying to get to the ball.

Luckily LVN saw the ball on the ground and jumped over Levis to get to it first.

Finish the play Enagbare, finish the play!

I noticed that too, and I'm sure the coaches have talked to him about it. I get why he was so excited, though.

I saw that too...coaching point for certain. It is good to see JJ getting back to his upswing in play we saw before he got injured. He's very quick.

This was Enagbare's day. But don't be surprised if you see a different defensive star every week. Interior pressure is going to be the key against the Vikings, and the edges are not going to have as easy of a time getting around/through their tackles to Darnold. Wyatt has been a consistent force all season, and was heavily involved in the first two clips. Still waiting for the breakout game from Gary--maybe it will happen next game.

Now if we can get Kenny Clark and Gary to come to life and earn those big checks they are cashing.

The odd thing about Enagbare’s day is he’d looked like he was t himself at all the two games prior. Different role? Rust or just getting over the injury?

"Could our days of safe, boring, and predictable defense really be over?"

Hope so! The Pack Attack Defense was the forecast during Camp and Preseason. The weather report is looking good.

The Ugly Purple is a year ahead with their Attacking D under Brian Flores.

Should be a game long battle. Buckle up!

We have so many first rounders rushing the passer and then the 5th round pick has a truly impactful day. That's some roster depth right there, Gutey!

We really do have an abundance of talent there and with WR and DB. This will protect us from injuries and keep us fresh.

Thinking about starting a petition on Change.org for Brian to legally change his name from Brian Willis Gutekunst to Brain Willis Gutekunst. (notice his middle name? hmmm)

I love you,

Pantz B.

We can have two healthy DL inactive on gameday and still throw 8 guys at you who can all win 1 on 1 battles.

Gary, Smith, Van Ness, Enagbare, Slaton, Wyatt, Clark, Wooden, Brooks, Enagbare.

All season long, baby. We're going to line up rested, healthy guys who are good players. This is going to show by the end of the season.

I like the film clips. It was interesting to see that when Enagbare didn't officially make "the play", he made the play that made "the play" possible. He disrupted things early and his teammates benefited from his efforts?
