Packers Practice Round-Up. Day 3, August 18, 2020
And the pads come on, if just for one hour and nine minutes. It was a good day for the defense. Rodgers tossed a couple of interceptions, the receivers dropped a few more, and the number one offense failed to score despite getting ten tries inside the ten yard-line.
GENERAL/PERSONNEL:
Corey Linsley was held out of practice for unspecified precautionary reasons per LaFleur. Wood. ZaDarius Smith, Montravius Adams (Sprained Toe per Rapoport), and Bakhtiari (seen walking in the locker room w/o any limp after trainers looked at his left foot per Schneidman) dropped out of practice. [I found no update on ZaDarius Smith, but there is no reason to believe it is serious.]
Jenkins and Patrick took snaps at OC. Wood
OLBs Garvin, Williams and Ramsey are getting lots of work. When practice split into two groups, Ramsey worked with the 2nd stringers. Wood
Oren Burks came to camp weighing in the mid-240s. He's back to benching over 300 pounds. Kruse
QUARTERBACKS/WIDE RECEIVERS:
Rodgers to Marcedes, but he dropped it. Drops have been an issue so far. Herman
Perfect pass from Boyle to Sternberger, who dropped it. Wood , Herman
Nice reception by Deguara from Boyle. Deguara had a false start earlier. Herman
St. Brown beats Hollman in drills. St. Brown with a drop. Herman
Boyle to Deguara on crosser with ILB Kamal Martin in coverage. Spofford
Deguara beats Greene on a corner route, but Rodgers overthrows it. Herman
Ervin runs nice route to lose Sullivan and for an easy completion. Herman
Lazard with a nice block to spring Ervin on a swing pass. Spofford
Nice route by Tonyan against Savage for an easy completion. Herman
Tonyan "absolutely" in play to be the #1 TE according to LaFleur. Schneidman
Love's footwork is noticeably different that Rodgers and Boyle. The three QBs do footwork drills in practice today. Love throws one pass way off target, indeed, into the bleachers. Boyle is easily the #2 QB at this stage. Herman
RUNNING BACKS:
Aaron Jones with a nifty run. Dillon with a nice run that showed good burst. Herman
OFFENSIVE LINE:
Bakh and Presont Smith split their 1 x 1 reps. Keke and Runyon competitive. Tim Williams with a win on a spin move. Hodkiewicz
Jenkins mauls Montravius Adams, who ends up on the ground. Nagler
1 x 1 report: Turn/Gary split; Taylor/M. Adams 2-0; Patrick/Clark split; Lowry/Jenkins split; Bakh/P. Smith 2-0; Wagner/T Williams split; Leglue/Hester 2-0; Hanson/Lancaster 2-0; Runyan/Keke split. Schneidman [So, Hodkiewicz gave both reps to Bakh over Preston Smith whereas Schneidman had it 1-1. Silverstein gave both reps to Lowry over Jenkins whereas Schneidman had it 1-1. Obviously, there is some subjectivity here.]

Great coverage by Sullivan and Josh Jackson on a couple of plays. Jackson dropped what should have been an INT. Herman

Amos comes up like a heat seeking missile to stop St. Brown on a toss reverse. Herman

SPECIAL TEAMS:
The Packers practice Wednesday and Thursday, getting Friday off, though there is a media availability session scheduled.

I chose to use a photo of Adrian Amos for this article. With an interception, a pass break up, and two run stuffs, it appears that he made the most plays. Tim Williams and Lowry had nice days. Stanford Samuel had another interception. I like reading that Samuel had a nice read on the play, and conversely, that Tonyan, Deguara and Ervin ran nice routes. Although I didn't include the tweet, apparently watching Jaire cover Davante Adams is fun to watch. Josh Jackson had a nice day. Sticky is what Herman wrote, though another person suggested that Jackson held a bit. IDK, lots of top CBs hold, they just know how much is allowed.
Interesting that Burks is up to the mid-240s. Happy to read that after his pectoral injury he is back to benching 325 pounds.
I love TEs who can stone big OLBs like Gary. Although Lewis dropped a pass, I don't see any drops from him in 2018 or 2019, and am unaware of any drop issue with him in the past.
There was a nice tweet about Jamaal Williams on a run play, noting that he did quite a bit with not too much room. I thought I would run across another tweet about it with more specificity but never saw anyone else mention it, and couldn't remember who wrote the initial tweet or the phrasing of it. Oh well.

Its not like this was entirely unexpected, but in 3 days of practice, this is the first time you've heard Jordan Loves name spoken.

Don't think you'll see #10 dressing this season unless we have a dinged up QB, and rightfully so. I never saw "IT" with this guy, I just don't see what the attraction was, watched college and combine film. By the time this guy is ready or even remotely ready, Tim Boyle will have cemented himself as the next QB of the Packers. We should at least see some signs of life with Love already? Wow! By the way, the footwork thing is not that unusual, Drew Lock, even though he showed himself to be a major talent at Denver last year, is just now getting his footwork together. That said, you saw signs of life right away. Jordan Love? Doesn't sound like a good start, sounds like he's drowning.

Sounds like you either don’t understand or chose not hear what the team has said about him needing development.
Of course you are welcome to your opinion and he may ultimately not fulfill the team’s hopes. However the idea that a rookie QB in his first padded practice Had footwork issues and a mis-throw confirms you’re amateur scouting assessment as correct is pretty funny.

There was one tweet about him, I think from the first practice. Someone wrote that he went from 0 to 60 in a hurry, showing nice acceleration on a rush. That is nice, but what perhaps would be more encouraging would be a tweet about good pass pro, or looking assignment sure.
It's early. Lots of players haven't been mentioned much or at all by the media in their tweets. Still, Ervin is getting lots of positives as a pass-catching RB, and Jones and Dillon are locks.
