Packers Calendar: Waiver System Begins for 2015
The Packers rank 30th in the NFL in waiver-wire priority, which begins on Monday.
Happy Groundhog Day. Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. Sorry everyone, it looks like six more weeks of winter.
Now that the Super Bowl is in the books and New England Patriots have triumphed over the Seattle Seahawks, the new waiver system begins on Monday for 2015.
Just like their position in the NFL Draft, the Packers are now ranked 30th on waiver wire, meaning 29 other teams get priority on waiver claims starting Monday while only the Seahawks and Patriots rank behind the Packers.
There's nothing mandating the Packers have to make a waiver claim on Monday, or any other day for that matter, just that they won't be awarded a claim until 29 other teams get first choice.
The same waiver order will remain in effect for several months and won't change until a couple weeks into the 2015 regular season when it changes based upon record.
The last time the Packers were awarded a player on waivers was July of 2014 when they claimed wide receiver Gerrard Sheppard from the Baltimore Ravens during training camp. He was eventually released.

Off the top of my head, Gilbert Brown, Jarrett Bush and Grady Jackson were waiver wire acquisitions.
None of those guys were claimed when rosters were expanded however. Brown & Bush were let go on final roster cut downs before the season and Jackson was a mid-season pick up.
