Regarding McCarthy:
2 things should automatically disqualify him from getting a head coaching job:
#1 - LaFleur going 13-3
#2 -Taysom Hill
Thompson found & signed a gem for him in Hill. McCarthy cut him.
Thompson also have him a clear talent in Aaron Jones who we all saw was electric. While similar 2017 RBs like Kamara were utilized in the passing games as matchup weapons. McCarthy failed to see what he had. He also kept playing Ty Montgomery over Jones.
For all the late & big game failures we've seen in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 plus those things I mentioned, McCarthy might be facing the same fate as Brian Billick. He won 1 Super Bowl. And when fired later, never got hired again despite interviews.
