I have seen the list of potential replacements, and they are not real impressive. GB should check out Levar Woods, former Iowa Hawkeyes ST coordinator, who left this year to take the same job at Michigan State. A surprising move since his son committed to play @ Iowa last year.

Iowa has struggled on offense badly for the last 10 years and had multiple offensive coordinators. Our special teams were excellent under Woods every year, and I would guesstimate Woods units won 3 games a year for Ferentz because STs was that good.

He would definitely be worth a look. I am glad the underwhelming Bisaccia tenure is over and am surprised the team didn't fire him sooner.

Supposedly R Bisaccia stepped down, and that may be true he was a favorite of MLF and well respected by the players and coaches. Having said that his special team units to me lacked discipline, cohesion ( on-side kicks ) ( snap holding on field goal attempts ) giving up field position on kick-offs repeatedly and never improving ...fundamentals Is it coaching... I say it is.

Fundamentals is coaching on the H.S. and college level. At the pro level it is on the player. Coaches have such limited time in practice now with the CBA in place and don't get to drill players at practice. That is up to them to do.

BB... Im going to call BS on not drilling players at practice Bucky ... when there is an important on-sides kick and two players completely miss there blocking assignments and the receiver falls backwards while trying to handle the squib kick those are lacking of fundamentals ... Highschool and college fundamentals from the pro level ( if you listen to rookie players ) are a total world apart and need to be implemented. Coaching and drilling players you have to get the message across can you honestly say that Packers ST players were getting the message?

So...in the NFL, they don't need coaching....Got it!

Iowa has had two offensive coordinators since 2016. Bisaccia pushed to draft Anders Carlson, said he could make him good despite being a 68% college kicker. Bisaccia took 1 1/2 years to finally figure out Amari Rodgers was a horrible return man and was costing us games. Please draft Iowa Center Logan Jones and return man Kaden Wetjen to solve two big issues.

Logan Jones may not make it to #52. He's a Scott Wells guy, just needs to pack on some mass, but not to be a boat anchor. This guy moves well and could return some wide-zone to this offense.

He not only did not live up to the expectations of a quality ST coach, he stuck it big time by waiting until February 17th to quit. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

The start of the league year is as good time as any. Lets not pretend it's July and they are in camp.

The most overrated coach given the product on the field in a long time in GB , yet sadly still probably better than Drayton, Mennenga, Zook, and Slocum before him.

Will GB finally take Special Teams seriously after 15 years of futility?

How many times have fans called for the head of a coach only to see no difference in the outcome? Fans always blame the coach for reasons that are beyond me. Missing a FG is on the player, 100%. Not catching the onside kick is on the player. All the coach can do is put the player in the correct position, after that it is up to the player to execute the play. Do fans think he told that kicker to miss that kick? Like I said the last 3 times GB has moved on from the ST coach, I don't see coaching as the problem here. Rich Bisaccia is very well respected around the league and has had a lot of success in other places. Green Bay on the other hand is burning through coaches with the same results. This is and has been a roster issue. I predicted that fans will want Rich fired after a couple of years and I predict it again for the next coach.

Bisaccia wanted Anders Carlson, despite being a lousy college kicker. Said he could fix him. How many games did Carlson cost us? Who decided we should keep using Amari Rodgers as a return man. How many games did Amari's fumbles and bumbles cost us over 1 1/2 years?

So then Bucky having a player fall backwards and take his eye off the ball on a on-side kick is putting him in the right position ? Coaching is not about standing there at practice and blowing a whistle, its about building a structure surrounded with the right people and then implementing a system that players believe and grow in only then will you see quality execution... there was no growth in the Packers special teams under Bisaccia

Well Bucky, stats don't lie and our special teams under Bisaccia have been in the bottom 3rd or worse every year he has been here. Where else in sports would a coach not have been replaced by now after his position group was as bad as GBs has been. It's not a surprise that he is gone, but it is a problem because of his timing in leaving. The bottom line is we can and should be trying to do better. Good teams are good in all 3 phases. You and I are College football fans as well, me a Hawkeye & you a Badger. Iowa's offenses have been terrible for years, but great special teams play and defense bailed us out again and again. We lost our talented Special Teams coach to Michigan State this year so he is fair game now for the Packers to poach.

Whether Bisaccia just decided to step down, if he was pushed out, or if he walked due to personnel (and/or personal) reasons, the timing truly sucks!
Unfortunately, its also representative of what appears to be the Packers' front office being dysfunctional, and that could be a bad sign of things to come.
Let's hope not!

I couldn't agree with you more.... The front office is dysfunctional. Why Policy kept Gute beats me the guy is a loser. Horrible free agent acquisitions and poor drafting has caused many of the Packers problems on the field of play. Seems like its mutiny on the Packer coaching staff. Who is next to leave...? Why Lucas Van Ness is still on this teams beats me....? The D-line is a mess with no money for free agency Gute has strapped the Packer team again... I'm okay with MLF staying but the GM should have been long gone..... The team needs so much...

It helps to have really good special teams players as well, especially having a couple standout playmakers can change the outcome of a couple games each year. This is one of the reasons I wanted GB to take a flyer on Isaiah Simmons the last couple of years because he is an exceptional special teams player who has had those game changing moments. Not to mention he has had success in the NFL playing on defense. Considering where he was drafted, Simmons is considered a draft bust. I thought for a cheap price that Hafley might unlock something in Simmons and GB could have something special on their hands. Simmons wasn't good enough to make the team as a LB, but he could have been a solid backup and a Special Teams demon for GB. And Bisaccia might still have a job because his unit might have been Top 15 instead of Bottom 10.

3 things to improve STs play in GB
Hire a new "hotshot" up and comer ST coach
Sign a KR that is actually good at it-Skyy Moore-projected $1-1.5 million-WR too
Sign a ST ace like Isaiah Simmon who can change games on Special teams & play backup LB/Edge

Didn't GB have a CB who was a ST "ACE" that now coaches the Saints or ?

Mason Crosby has shared that he would be interested in a ST coaching chance. He was interested at one time to be on Deion Sanders staff so I wonder if this would be to big a leap to NFL right away. Would be interesting!

I think he is a nice guy who is liked by the players, but came up short on the bottom line which is the most important result in football.

Well, if I have to give credit to Rich Bisaccia for one thing it might be - self-awareness.

Maybe he finally became self-aware enough to say - Yup, all those fans are right, all those forums are correct, they all want me gone and I guess I really ain't getting it done. MLF is just too nice to fire me so I guess I need to quit.

Happy trails coach.

My slant is a bit different than Mitch....
Not saying mine is right, maybe he is...but .02

By all accounts,...Bisaccia was VERY well liked by the players, coaches and front office.
It's my contention, that's why he lasted this long.

Now...the biggest weakness of special teams could be the return game.
Nixon was a good returner, but after 2023, he said he doesn't want to return kicks anymore and wanted to be a #1 corner.
Because the Packers told Alexander to kick rocks, he got his wish.
He can be sad over Bisaccia's exit.
But he didn't do him any favors taking himself out of special teams for the most part.

Now, was it all Bisaccia's fault, i think it's shared, he doesn't pick his personnel.
But as ST's Co. he takes the brunt.
*********
I said all along there was going to be a fall guy, and they kind of picked the lowest hanging fruit.
********
Now, did he step down, or did he 'politely' get fired?
Remember when TT got 'politely' fired?
They gave TT a new 'Title', then he moved back home to Texas and received his salary for two years after.
TT was VERY well liked also. (RIP)

My guess.....Bisaccia was politely fired. Just my opinion.
With the Packers waiting 4-5 weeks too long to do it.

Someone here said the Packers were looking dysfunctional.
Maybe, they are showing flashes of that, and most of us have seen it in the past

But it is what it is, these are not TT's and Ron Wolf's Packers, this is the remnants of Mark Murphy's Packers..

Yeah, maybe I should have put the sarcasm symbol on it. It was kind of a joke because well, everyone was barking about wanting him gone.

I'd agree that he was a very well liked coach. The problem for being a ST coach for Green Bay is that Green Bay just doesn't take ST all that serious. Green Bay is probably the one place (or one of the very few) in the NFL where an undrafted player has a chance of making the roster. Reason being, they aren't keeping too many key Special Teams type players rostered. It gives a Nazir Stackhouse a chance at being on the roster.

The last time they had a decent ST unit was when Jeff Janis was still around. Fast as hell, couldn't run a route to save his ass, catching was suspect, but he was a hell of a gunner. Now he sells tires. But they had a good ST unit when he was a gunner.

I just don't think GB gives great priority to ST beyond the kicking/punting end of things. Coverages and returns, they'll settle for what they can get.

Bisaccia likely realized ST's would be shorted again after Gannon came on board. I don't think his intentions were
negative.

I’m excited to hear players say that’s not our standard. We have no standards in special teams

Desmond Howard did. That was a long time ago

Remember the other guy we had. And let him go to Atlanta and never had another guy till Nixon showed up 18 years later
