If you want a specialist speed rusher then Chop Robinson is the obvious early option in the draft, but we may not want to invest that much capital on such a time even if we get the chance. In fact there are other promising later candidates that could fill that role or need.
Jalyx Hunt would be a late day 2/early day three possibility. I’d also look at Marshawn Kneeland as a looks like an insider physically candidate but with the burst and speed to be outside to speed rush. A bigger man outside with flexibility. Of course, we could actually use Brooks more imaginatively too.
I’m not keen on a splash contract for a role type unless you are getting something you can’t draft credibly. Peppers was a unique player. In this case I don’t think that dichotomy of capability exists and we still have time to develop and keep our cap healthy next year and beyond. This applies as much to other positions as well.

None of those players interested me. If we are looking at free agents, keep your sights primarily on safeties and line backers. We have 11 draft picks that can be used to add some talented players in the early rounds and there are still plenty of middle and later round picks to add competition to the roster with younger, less expensive options. Holes remaining?...we still have the June 1st releases coming to address any that remain.

Hardly anybody gets released on June 1st anymore. Teams can now designate 2 players as June 1st releases as soon as the new league year starts, like the Packers will do with Campbell on the 13th. There's occasionally a few players released when the teams draft a guy at that position and feel like they are ready to play after the OTAs, but it's nothing like it used to be with those cuts.
