Hello Wisconsin: Entering the Final Phase of the Season

The Packers' arrow is pointing up once again at exactly the right time

As the Packers enter the final quarter of the regular season (well, technically they did that sometime in the second half of the Bears game), they once again are a team on the rise, with expectations back to where they were in the earliest portions of the season.

The mid-season lilt that the team experienced is certainly in the backs of fans’ minds everywhere, but this team has grown a lot since October and early November, especially along the offensive front. Jordan Love is playing some of the best football of his career, the receivers are making plays, Josh Jacobs is in playoff form, the team is getting healthy, and most importantly, the defense is closing up victories against good teams.

There was little that was easy about the game against the Bears. In rivalry games you can almost always throw records out the window, but when the records are what they were in this particular contest, you enter a playoff atmosphere. And it was truly an intense environment; players were going full speed, and the hits came hard and often. This was a true rivalry clash between a couple teams hoping to go deep into the postseason bracket.

While it wasn’t perfect for the Packers, the team has to be thrilled with the result. The Packers improved their NFC North record to 4-0, including victories over divisional foes in three straight weeks, a far cry from their putrid 1-5 record of a season ago. The defense came up big in a final drive in which Chicago threatened to score and tie the game. The offense made the plays it needed, and got a boost from the returning Jayden Reed. After an early interception, Jordan Love was nearly perfect.

There are few teams who are as talented and well-balanced as the Packers. That has been true for the entire season, even at a point when the Packers were in the midst of their swoon. But as always, the season is defined by how you end, not by the beginning or the middle. The Packers have gone through some challenges and have positioned themselves where they are playing some of their best football in the month of December.

This will be critical in the weeks ahead. Right now the Packers are the second seed in the NFC, and would face the Bears in the opening round of the playoffs if the season ended now. But the team does have a path to the number one seed currently held by the Rams–they’ll need the Rams and Seahawks to lose a game, but it is not unreasonable to think the Packers could earn the all-important first round bye.

To do that, they’ll need to start by defeating Denver on the road this weekend. This could be the toughest matchup the Packers have left; that Broncos defense is no joke, and Denver is one of the most difficult places to play when the team is good. These Broncos are tough and have shown a lot of fight over the course of the year so far, plus they’re well-coached.

The Packers will then need a second victory over the Bears on the road in Chicago, a win at home against Baltimore, and a victory in Minneapolis over the Vikings.

Not an easy schedule by any means, but not exactly impossible, either. They’ve already beaten Chicago and Minnesota, and Baltimore is nowhere near the team it was expected to be coming into this season. None of these teams are going to be an easy victory (those rarely exist in the NFL), but the Packers should be expected to win each of those games.

It hurts that the Packers lost or tied several games they should have won. But there’s nothing that can be done about that at this point; all they can do is control what lies in front of them. This team has recovered from its midseason struggles and once again has realistic championship expectations. And they have all the right ingredients:

-A quarterback playing like one of the five best at the position this season

-A defense with a tenacious pass rush and an ability to close out games

-A running game capable of controlling the clock when needed

-Multiple big play threats in the passing game

-An offensive line playing sound football

How many teams can say they check all of those boxes?

The rest of this season should (hopefully) be a fun ride. It will also reveal a lot about Matt LaFleur, who deservedly took a lot of heat during the team’s midseason swoon. Will the season end with the arrow pointing up (2023), with significant disappointment (2024), or perhaps even with a championship?  Let’s see where it takes us.

Wisconsin Beer of the Week

I don’t often feature domestics in this space because I prefer to shine the light on local craft beers, but I did have an interesting beer over the weekend that I had not even known existed.

It’s the Miller 1855 Celebration Lager, which was originally a limited-edition golden lager released by Miller to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2005. This is a fuller-bodied lager that features more malt and more depth of flavor than the standard Miller beers. It’s still on the lighter side at 4.85% ABV, but at 85 IBU it’s a little more bitter and weightier than a lot of their products tend to be.

I hadn’t previously encountered this beer, likely because it’s a limited release. I can only assume it was released again this year for the 170th anniversary, because the last time I can find trace of it being released was in 2015.

The idea behind the beer is that it is a tribute to the original 1855 recipe that had more malt. Ultimately it doesn’t taste a whole lot different than most domestics, but it’s at least a fun novelty and one that isn’t going to be sticking around for very long.

If you do find it, grab it up, because it’s going to be pulled from shelves before long–probably until 2035.

The Packers will have a wide receiver puzzle on their hands

With Jayden Reed’s return, the Packers have almost run into a situation where they have too many mouths to feed on offense. A good problem to have, for sure, especially when compared to the opposite scenario, but it’ll make things difficult this offseason.

Christian Watson received a one-year prove it extension, so he’s under contract for next season. However, one has to think he’s earned a larger and longer deal with his play since returning from his ACL tear; this has been the best, most consistent football of his career so far, and he’s elevated the Packers’ offense.

Reed was much more active than expected in his return, and his dynamic playmaking ability was sorely missed. The offense is clearly better when he’s on the field.

Then there are a lot of other players in the picture. Romeo Doubs has frequently been Love’s go-to target in possession situations and in the red zone. However, he’s not under contract next year, and his skill set is probably much more replaceable than that of guys like Watson or Reed. Unfortunately, I’d expect him to be the odd man out heading into next season, especially given his injury history.

Dontayvion Wicks has shown flashes of brilliance this season, especially on Thanksgiving Day, but goes through long stretches where he simply isn’t a key part of the team’s on-field plans. He’d be a natural slide-in for Doubs next year, the final year of his rookie deal with the Packers.

But then you figure that the team is also going to want to get Matthew Golden more involved sooner or later. Golden has had some struggles getting on the field, presumably because he’s having difficulty with the playbook. It’s tough to expect a rookie to come in and make an immediate impact, but fans were probably hoping to see a little more from their first first-round receiver in over two decades this season. Golden will figure to become a potential replacement for Doubs’s snaps as well.

Savion Williams has shown some versatility and is the kind of player who’d be more likely to rotate with Jayden Reed than with any of the receivers who tend to live on the outside.

Then there’s Bo Melton, who’s remained pretty involved despite technically being listed as a cornerback (he’s not played a single snap of corner in the regular season). Melton primarily makes his dough on special teams, but has come up big on offense for the team a couple times this season.

Again, lots of mouths to feed. Already Malik Heath has gone back to the practice squad. Doubs probably doesn’t get a second contract from the team. We’ll see who manages to step up the rest of the season and into the next year.

Around the NFC North

As always, it’s time to go around the NFC North.

  • The CHICAGO BEARS deserve some credit; they hung with the Packers at Lambeau and looked like a team that is going to hang around. But they’re not quite ready yet. The Bears’ game plan was clearly trying to take as much pressure off Caleb Williams as possible, and his final abysmal throw directly to Keisean Nixon was a pretty good indicator of why that plan was put into place to begin with. Meanwhile, the Bears’ defense isn’t quite to the championship caliber point. Give this team another year or two and they could well be a serious contender; right now, though, their ceiling is to be a tough out, and credit to their coaches – tough they are. {But also, the Bears Still Suck!)

  • The DETROIT LIONS are still on the outside looking in within the NFC playoff picture, and will need a little bit of help if they’re going to end up back in the playoffs. Their schedule ahead isn’t exactly easy, either; they play one of the league’s best teams on the road this weekend in Los Angeles, and a loss there would be an especially large setback if the Bears take care of business at home against Cleveland. The Lions have had a hard time stringing together successive wins all season, so they’re going to have to reverse that trend now if they have any hope of sneaking into the tournament.

  • The MINNESOTA VIKINGS had a sudden showing of life on Sunday, but file it under the “too little too late” category. For at least one week, J.J. McCarthy was able to shut down some of the noise surrounding his disastrous 2025 campaign. Was it enough to convince Vikings brass that he deserves more time at the helm of the ship? Unlikely – the team still has to be thinking quarterback is a need this offseason. But if he has in fact suddenly turned a corner, that could make for some interesting decision making this offseason. But the Vikings don’t have the luxury of taking more time to figure out their quarterback position; this team was in win-now mode with a lot of veterans on big deals, and every moment wasted represents lost opportunity. That window is closing fast.

Mr. Backes’s “This or That”

Every day I put a different “this or that” poll up on my whiteboard and have students leave tallies throughout the day. I then compile this information and post it here for laughs.

Here’s what we’ve seen over the last week:

  • Doritos defeated Cheetos
  • “Let It Snow” defeated “Jingle Bells”
  • Orchestra defeated band
  • Tests defeated group projects
  • Hot chocolate defeated tea

We gotta talk about Philip Rivers

I know it’s not about the Packers, but this has got to be one of the craziest sports stories in some time. Philip Rivers, after nearly five years of retirement, is coming back to play quarterback for the injury-ridden Indianapolis Colts, who are desperate to save their season after losing Daniel Jones and sliding to 8-5.

The Colts still have an opportunity to win their division, or at least sneak into the wild card, but it’ll be tough. I’m sure nobody really expects Rivers to come in and carry the team the way he could have 10 years ago, but still – there’s an understandable fascination with this bizarre story. I can’t recall ever seeing anything quite like it. The man is 44 years old, and, oh yeah, a GRANDFATHER, and is going to be lining up under center for a professional football team after FIVE YEARS away from the game!

I’m rooting for the Colts just because of how crazy this story is. Can you imagine if they manage to get into the playoffs and make a little run after signing Rivers? It would be one of the wildest stories in NFL history.

Anyway, I’ll be watching what happens to the Colts with great interest. Here’s to the old guys.

Week 15 NFL Picks

We’re getting down to the wire, and every game now is critical to playoff seeding. A game on the road against Denver is a chance to stack the Packers up against one of the AFC’s very best.

And the Packers are the better team. The fact that they are road favorites in a tough environment is indicative of that. But this is still a tough matchup. The Broncos have a very good defense, and while Bo Nix hasn’t exactly been lighting it up on offense, that offense is going to do everything it can to play mistake-free football and take what the defense allows.

Still, I like what the Packers are doing. They’re once again a team on the rise, and I think they take a close one.

Malik Heath did not go to the practice squad, he signed with the Falcons.

Unless the Packers win at Denver AND the Bears lose at home to the Browns, the Packers and Bears will be playing against each other for first place in the division again the following week. The Packers just held serve with the win at Lambeau Field. They needed that win much more than the Bears did. And the Bears proved something just by hanging with them right to the end.

But first things first. The Broncos. I listened to Andy Herman and Justis Mosqueda this morning, and they said we should expect a low-scoring game without many big plays. These are two of the best defenses in the league. The Broncos appear to have the better defense, but the Packers have the much more dynamic offense. I think the Packers will have to take some big shots on offense. They just need to carefully pick their moments to do that.

The weather in Denver is expected to be nice: mostly sunny, with a high of 63. I'm fine with that!

"The Broncos appear to have the better defense..."

Operative word is "appear". Their 11 wins include just 2 over teams with a current winning record. Packers have 4 wins of their 9 over winning teams. But there is no doubt the Joseph and his pass defense coordinator/Assistant HC Leonard has assembled a very good D.

Rankings though, are very indicative at this point of the season. And the Pack and the Broncos are nearly mirror images on both sides of the ball.

Have a little concern with STs where Bisaccia goes up against Rizzi...also a Broncos Assistant HC.

I keep thinking about what this offense would look like With Tucker Kraft, Watson, Reed, Golden, and Wicks. I know we'll get to see it next season but DAMN, it would have been nice to have Tucker trucking all over the Bears Defense!

I didn't think they could win a SB without Kraft. Having Reed back will really help with the loss of Kraft. I'm just not sure if it will be enough. Stay tuned...Reed is FRESH and he could be a key part of this offense on the way to the dance!

Yep—I agree. Kraft is (was) the stimulus for this offense. With him, we reach the SB.

"all they can do is control what lies in front of them"

This is all you can ask for at the end of the season. To control your own destiny, not hope some other team will do it for you.
The Packers turn the tables on the Broncos and will get their first pick 6 of the season.

Cleavland is going to take care of the ball, their defense will take control and without turnovers the Bears will lose.

The Lions are the opposite of the Packers this season. They don't control their own destiny. They have to win and hope.

The Vikings will need to take a long hard look at Philip Rivers this offseason if they can't get Fran Tarkington out of retirement. They'll still be a worrisome team with nothing to lose and people trying to keep jobs at the end of the season.

This made my day!

"They'll still be a worrisome team with nothing to lose and people trying to keep jobs at the end of the season."

If the Packers win their next 3, this will likely be a meaningless game.

Meaningless can also be spelled "injury" with those guys flying around the field. Even if you're locked in someone has to play.

"They'll(the vikings) still be a worrisome team with nothing to lose and people trying to keep jobs at the end of the season." I think that also applies to Kwesi, their GM. How long will the Wilf's want to keep a guy who was the architect of one of the worst QB decisions, in the League, in recent years. Remember too, he traded up 1 spot to draft McCarthy and thus passed on Nix, who went with the next pick.

Nix isn't much better? You must be a member of the Vikings/Bears front office. Nix is WAY better than McCarthy. Hell, he's arguably better than that guy the Bears took as the number one pick. Nix comp is Drew Brees, McCarthy's comp is Christian Ponder.

It's a cliche, but everything will be won or lost in the trenches from here out. Can our O-line continue its improvement, and can our D-line stop the run (with help of our linebackers)? And of course, the big wild card--Will key players stay healthy? Until this year, I didn't appreciate how Love's injuries affected his play last year. He's a different beast when his legs are healthy.

Defense will again have to game plan for a very good OL...albeit with a more productive QB, and not as potent at RB. Defense has to get more 3 and outs. Offense needs to score early and get at least a 2 score lead...at least by the start of the 4th.

They played more 4-3 base snaps vs the bares...and even some 5-2 now, against 6 man fronts. Expect more of that. So Hafley has adjusted to Wyatts' loss...but the results need to be better. But I don't see the ground pound focus with Denver that the bares followed.

Broncos are undefeated at home. Packers are the NFL's best road team. But the zebra herd on hand Sunday consistently throws more laundry at the visiting team. So expect more exasperation in this one.

I can go with Tim's 23-20 Packers.

The complaint about no holding calls against Parsons will be heard by the league and I think it will hurt the Packers because that's who the holding penalties will get called against just to show the squeaky wheel what's what.

Not sure Nix is more productive. The Broncos have struggled on O most of the year. They have a great OL and some weapons but force Nix to play hero ball and the Broncos are sunk.

The Broncos have 35 TDs to our 38. We both have 15 rushing TDs, so we’ve scored through the air 3 times more, don’t overestimate the difference in offense. I would say ours had improved of late, but it’s still a thin margin against a D that is extremely good against the run as well as the pass. We are going to have to go out there and dare to beat them on Sunday if we want to come out ahead.

Have the Packers turned a corner? Beating a team with a strong record (the Bears) helps, but I think we've learned that there's more variability week-to-week in this league than in past seasons. It's a tough run to the finish for the Packers with 3 of 4 on the road and 2 against true playoff hopefuls (it looks like the Ravens will be out of contention when the Packers play them) and two wins likely gets them into the playoffs but could end up winning the division. Three wins comes pretty close to locking it up.

The WR puzzle will take care of itself. Some are lamenting a "lost rookie year" for Golden, but he's been dealing with injuries. For a guy who plays a lot of snaps, Doubs has been almost a forgotten man since Watson returned. Adding Reed adds a different kind of player to the mix, but he really only plays in 11 personnel (it seemed like every time he touched the ball, he tabbed a first down and immediately went to the sideline). The more the Packers go heavy, the more it will limit guys not named Watson.

Lions:
"The Lions have had a hard time stringing together successive wins all season"
Dan Campbell hasn't lost back-to-back gamess since 2022, though--which the local media here keeps pounding into our heads. They get their preferred LG mauler Christian Mahogany back, too, but their LT (Decker) is beat up and reportedly contemplating retirement post 2025 (which would be a huge hole to fill). With Brian Branch out for the year, I think their only hope of beating the Rams is to turn the game into a track meet and hope they make fewer gaffes...that said, I think they win their last 3 and sneak past the Bears into the playoffs.

BEARS: Is this a let-down week for the Bears? Cleveland--the Bears' opponent this week--at one point looked like a team that could jump up and bite the Bears. It's more iffy now that the Browns' defense apart from Myles Garrett seems to be running out of steam. This is a week where the genius needs to keep it simple and just run the ball. Still, if the Browns can get to 20+ points, I think they can stun the Bears at Soldier field, and that would be a massive blow to the Bears. The bears get 3 of 4 at home, but conceivably could lose 2 and maybe all 4.

VIKINGS: needed to do a serious rebuild several years ago, but embarked on a patchwork FA scheme that their coaches have turned into mostly good regular seasons (but no playoff wins). The cap is ailing (they're already $26M under water in 2026). The roster depth is ailing. And they really have no choice but to run it back in 2026 with a journeyman vet and McCarthy at QB. Both Kwesi and O'Connell's jobs are riding on McCarthy, yes, but I think they get one more year...starting to sound like the Bucks.

What is Philip Rivers thinking? What are the Colts thinking? I mean, yes, even I can turn and hand the ball to JT 25 times, but Rivers was an immobile QB in his better years. I understand that he's a big supporter of several guys on that coaching staff (he's supposedly very close to Steichen) and the Colts have a pretty good OL, but Rivers will get killed back there. Their best play down the stretch might actually be to throw Anthony Richardson (a poor man's Jameis Winston) out there, rein him in with limited passing options, and take their chances.

True--they could win the next two and be right there with Pittsburgh. Even if they lose the next two, Pittsburgh probably loses to Detroit week after next, which keeps the Ravens alive. They look like a team that's barely treading water, though, and I think they lose these next two.

Dobber, have you read Golden's limited snaps are due to him having problems learning the playbook, missing assignments?

I read that over at APC. As it is, even with his injuries, his total receptions and yards will be close to Adams rookie year. Took Adams until year 3 to ignite. Even Jordy took until year 4 to really take off and not look back.

Golden will be fine with more experience with Love.

"Dobber, have you read Golden's limited snaps are due to him having problems learning the playbook, missing assignments?"

Beats me. I play guesswork and only read/listen to a limited number of pundits. My thinking is that it's largely due to trust with the coaching staff coupled to recent injuries, yes. IMO, he needs a breakout game or two to shoulder his way into more snaps.

"Golden will be fine with more experience with Love."

Agreed.

Rivers has been working with Riley Leonard as a personal trainer. Between that and his relationship with the coaching staff he knows the playbook. He probably feels good after not getting hit for 5 years. Crazy to think but he might be good for one game if he can avoid a big hit.

Richardson is done as a Colt. He isn't even a poor man Winston. He was the only QB I know to go in the 1st round that the college was actually happy to see him go. Guy could never pass the rock, Winston had a live arm at least. Richardson should have been a 7th round pick.

I don’t know what Rivers is thinking, but hopefully he gets paid enough to pay for his next 10 kids. If Richardson is smart enough, play him as we played Willis out of the gate. LaFleur did a good job of that though he was slow to trust Willis to do more even as he can proved he can (which was far from guaranteed). Richardson used like that might well have been their wild card route to making the post season. Maybe Rivers can get them there, but, like you, I’m not certain that story ends well.

As far as the Bears go, I think they are a team we should now have figured out, and may always be with that QB, even if their D improves. I’m still more impressed by the win away at the Lions even without St Brown and LaPorta, who have saved Goff’s bacon this year with the less stellar OL. I’m just glad they didn’t just pound us between the tackles with Montgomery.

I do think Johnson will prove the better coach, offensively and generally, but I think the Lions will be our biggest obstacle for the next few years, not the Bears if they stick with Williams and he doesn’t progress dramatically in the pocket.

Our destiny is ours to make. We need to be disciplined, have smart game strategies and not play away from our strengths. That includes making good personnel choices on game day, tactically and in view of actual health. Then we need to trust our roster to win, not be focused on having it not lose.

I’m very interested to see how we handle the DL now Cox (probably our 3rd best rushing prospect) is healthy and now Bohanna and Riley should be getting properly up to speed. I do think we have the chance, if use wisely, to repair weaknesses there after Gute’s seeming change of heart on big men.

If so, I think we have the roster to do this and reading generally, it seems most do as well. It’s all down to the coaching now and how much we want to win not just participate, on and off field.

I’m no fan of LaFleur, but he has the pieces. By February we will know if he’s now tactically and motivationally able to win when he wasn’t with Rodgers and Adams. That’s not to say he has to win it all, but no self-inflicted coaching pratfalls, numbingly cautious game plans, in game adjustment and a team that comes out hungry whoever we play and wherever. I may have to fall on my long standing conviction. That would be lovely.

Anthony's face had a run in with the dreaded combo of a resistance band and a pole. He's not ready to return, although the Colts have said they're going to continue to gently kick the tires with him. It's worth a try, at least according to them.

The sky was falling in October but now they are playing their best football, as it should be. Don't want your team peeking before the Holidays. Remember when the Colts had the coach of the year and they were going to walk away with the division? Yea that isn't going so well. They have everything in front of them. They are among the top contenders to win it all. Can't ask for anything else going down the stretch.

There's peaking too soon and injuries. Then there's normal, nothing spectacular, do your job New England. Tough to argue that they're a scarry team that hasn't played its best football yet. I sure hope it's a one-year fluke.

I think the Pats are for real but I was a big supporter of Maye coming out of college. Always said he was the one you wanted in that draft. They built their team right and used the cap space to surround Maye with a good OL and defense. Where I think they are for real I also think Maye will have a rough go of it in his 1st playoff run. Their future is bright.

Broncos are the team I think might be one year wonder. Nix just isn't that good and keeping a defense at that level is hard to do year in and year out.

"The Packers will have a wide receiver puzzle on their hands"
I really don't see this as a problem. I see it as a good thing. They have a lot of guys and Love can simply just throw it to whoever gets open. It changes every game based on how the defenses are playing.

As for the offseason.
Watson is the number 1. I think they will be looking to get new deals for both him and Reed. I believe Golden is here to replace Doubs. He is the only one that I don't expect back.

"Around the NFC North"

The CHICAGO BEARS - "deserve some credit; they hung with the Packers at Lambeau and looked like a team that is going to hang around."
I will give them credit. They didn't fold like past teams. That being said they aren't ready yet. They are a bit like last years Vikings. A lot of wins against a lot of bad teams. I still am not sold on Williams. He is a tough guy to sack. He has a strong arm and does a lot of improvising. But to run the offense the way they want it ran. I don't know if he is the guy to do it.

The DETROIT LIONS - "are still on the outside looking in within the NFC playoff picture, and will need a little bit of help if they’re going to end up back in the playoffs."
During the offseason to me the biggest question mark team was the Lions. They lost a lot of coaches, both coordinators. That is not easy to come back from.

The MINNESOTA VIKINGS - "had a sudden showing of life on Sunday,"
Showed life against a lifeless team. The window closed fast because they chose to hand the keys over to essentially a rookie QB, who was coming off a major injury.

"They are a bit like last years Vikings. A lot of wins against a lot of bad teams. "

The Bears were 3-7 in games decided by one possession in 2024, which should--for an average team--be ripe for regression. So far, the Bears are 7-2 in one possession games in 2025, so the pendulum has swung hard the opposite direction. So what do you make of that? Are they much better or much luckier? I think your comparison to the Vikes is appropriate, but I'd go with 2022 rather than 2024.

"They lost a lot of coaches, both coordinators. That is not easy to come back from."

They're also perennially beat up, too, last year and this year. I think they still make the playoffs and it's my prediction that they push the Bears out.

"The window closed fast because they chose to hand the keys over to essentially a rookie QB,"

Yes, they made some overtures at Darnold and other vets, but I think their roster needs outweighed their cap space, and they really didn't have much choice than to hope he'd grown while watching.

Finally got to watch last week's game (wasn't shown in AZ Dammit) and, WOW, what a game to watch. Appreciated much more after seeing it vs. just listening to the game. Speaking (?) of the Packers/Ravens game it was just announced on the team site that the game will be on Saturday, December 27th at 7:00 p.m. on the Peacock channel. Hey, a channel I actually have as part of my cable package. Yay! Looking forward to watching the Packers beating (hopefully) the Broncos this Sunday. GPG!

I notice that allot. I live a couple miles from the AZ border, and we keep getting the Packer games and you guys don't. I think it's only because Love went to Utah State. You guys are sandwiched between the Cardinals and the Raiders. We get the Raiders allot but they're usually opposite the Packer game on the other network or the other timeframe.

The game against the Ravens will be on Peacock but ALSO on NBC. You scared me for a minute there.

Glad you finally got to watch the win over the Bears. It was inspiring.

Tim: This Packer team is starting to feel like the 1996 SB team. Each team with a player who gives the offense side the confidence that they can win any game (Favre/Love), and a player on the defense side who definitely makes that side play better (White/Parsons). It's going to be a fun ride!

Agree—we don’t have a WR “puzzle”.

"A lot of mouths to feed," indeed.

This Packers O has got a ton of weapons. Remarkable depth at WR. Mind blowing. Imagine if we still had Tucker Kraft for this run...

Despite his loss, I have to say that I really like TE Josh Whyle. He's made some important blocks, and had a nice 21 yd reception on 3rd and 2, with 13 yds RAC to keep the drive alive for Watson's 2nd TD.

My preferred WR order:
1. Watson
2. Reed
3. Wicks
4. Golden
5. Doubs
6. Melton
7. Williams

Doubs needs to be playing much less.

Regarding the Bears: I think they very well could lose this Sunday. It has trap game written all over it. Terrible weather expected. And the Browns defense is amazing against the run. They’re actually not terrible any more, but they do have some roster holes to fill before becoming elite, and despite to resources to do so, they’re also older on defense and OL. They’re going to have to replace players soon too. Don’t pencil them in for dominance just yet.

Regarding the Lions: I, too, think they get the 7 seed. Over the Bears. And they are a quick out. Descending team. Couldn’t happen to a nicer fanbase.

Regarding the Vikings: They’re due for a full scale rebuild. But they don’t have a QB, the resources in the draft, nor FA spending money. They’re going to be very bad for a very long time.

Regarding US: We just have to find a way to mitigate the gaping hole in the IDL. Hopefully these pluggers Gute brought aboard can provide some semblance of competence.

GB lists new IDL Bohanna at 327 pounds, but Sea had him listed at 359. He's started several games. Fun fact his "Pops" is Gangsta Blac, a rapper from Memphis and a huge GBP fan.
