Well I kinda thought we made ourselves clear on this so I'm really disappointed in Nagler and CHTV.

Gut Reactions were always spot on and on point. They were easy to read and should be easy to write. They're not paragraphs and don't even need to be complete sentences.

Why ruin such a good concept? It was so original; now it's just more dudes babbling at the monitor.

I ain't watching it, I'll never watch it, and I'm ready to delete CHTV from my bookmarks.

Penalties still hurting the Offense, but MLF seems to have a plan to still succeed.
McKinney with another early game INT for the Defense.
Run Pack Run.
Do you believe in 'Malik'
I cannot excuse goal line fumbles, the number one place to ensure ball security, it keeps the game 'losable'.
Colts making adjustments, will MLF?
WTF??? 1:30 in the half with 3 Time-outs, and we take the foot off the gas. Shades of McCarthy.
Nice Defensive stand to start the half.
Offense with a 3rd quarter
sputtering, Colts start neighing into 4th.
Defense yanks the bit of the Colts.
Dobbs with the INT of likely Malik INT.
Lucky they have Narveson.
A Tale of Two Halves, even if it doesn't seem to be.
Wilson with a 'possible' game saver pick.
Geez, just realized how fast this game went.
UH-OH time got INT'ed.

Happy for a victory but the defense is very suspect. To many misses and poor tackling on defense... If VanNess or McDuffy are on defense good luck they give up way to much on pass or run. Still need more penetration from the defensive line. Colts QB had all day to pass or run. Were lucky we weren't playing any other team today with a veteran QB. The good news is its very early in the season they have plenty of time to make adjustments. Congrats Packers GPG.

It's a nice win. Malik was outstanding. Good game plan in the first half, then a bit too conservative at times in the 2nd for my taste. But, 3 interceptions, 2 big dropped passes by the Colts is what stopped them, not our defense. Our front 4 were again unable to put pressure on the QB, and there were a lot of open receivers and again poor run defense. But, it's a win.

Malikdid what he was supposed to, ie, manage the game. The defense had some nice, if easy, turnovers. Colts helped by dropping passes. Penalties were problematic again. The game was closer than it needed to be, but a win is a win.

My first post for the season, glad it is after a win.
Loved how they stuck with the run in the first half but then the Colts adjusted (imagine that MLF!). What are we going to do next week?
Willis didn't show much. Maybe with another week of practice?

Why do the Packers always seem to let the other team back in the game? Too early to tell anything but with the significant Colt injuries, there should have been some better chances downfield. Unless they didn't find Willis to be that good after all. His pass to Dobbs was really just a great catch by Dobbs. Packers have too many offensive weapons not to be able to find some way to use them better.

Oh yeah - PLEASE teach Willis to SLIDE and don't run him up the middle to get pounded on.

Oh yeah #2 (making up for not posting in off season ) - why did we give Barry so much leeway and kept him around but jettisoned Jones after he carried the team? Notwithstanding that Jacobs is looking good.

GPG!

"Willis didn't show much."

12/14 (86%) 8.7...1 TD...6 rushes/41 yards. ZERO turnovers.

Exactly what more did you want him to show after being with the team 2 weeks?

Ouch - getting blasted on this one. Yeah, I guess so. He showed he was a credible stand in, especially considering he just got here. And I guess MLF used him as best as he determined he could today. So let's see what happens next week when it is less likely Packers will be able to run as well as today.

- Backup QB didn't lose it for them and made a play or two
- Running worked early on and MLF didn't create a stupid game plan for the new backup qb
- Defense has some bright spots
- Kraft is TE #1
- I didn't think Jacobs was a fumbler so quite surprised by his fumble
- Couple of drops by Colts helped defense a lot
- Colts hung in there and packers are fortunate
- Tackling abysmal due to lack of preseason padded practices and not playing in preseason games. Hopefully it gets better.
- Same deal with conditioning
- Early penalties
- Reed looks like the steal of last year's draft
- Hopefully, Love goes on to a long career and this game is a trivia question, "Which QBs started a home opener for the packers from 1992 to ...?"

1.) Jacobs reaching for the endzone.
2.) Malik also perfect on all his passes today in terms of accuracy.
3.) Defense broke down at the end (gashed in the run game on the 3rd to last drive then in the passing game on 2nd to last drive. Do they have endurance issues?
4.) Colts are fortunate GB didn't run up the score (no Jacobs fumble and make the FG and it's 26-3 late in the 4th Q.
5.) Penalties cut from 10 to 6 so a good improvement. A couple BS holds and the roughing the QB qas BS also.
6.) Reed is probably a top 3 slot receiver already.
7.) Kraft has been TE one since camp and preseason.
8.) I think the Colts had 3 big drops that cost them first downs and GB did nothing to assist those drops. Although Mcduffie would've tackled JT for a 3 yd gain and no first.
9.) Tackling improved vastly in this game. They had 10 missed tackles last game. IDK if they had more than 4 in this game.
10.) MLF should've came out in the 3rd Q qith easy passes as the Colts sent the house to stop the run in the 3rd Q.

They cut the penalties from 10 to 6 and 2 of them were bogus, especially the roughing the passer on LVN.

Malik is only playing in one more game this season vs the Titans as a revenge game.

They had one fumble lost on the goal line. Jacobs isn't known as a fumbler, so he'll clean it up.

They qere favored to lose by three but won by 6 vs a team that nearly beat the Texans with Stroud starting and put up a good amount of points (24 pts) on their good defense).

Take off the 1 fumble, one missed FG and GB's up 26-3 with 6 minutes in the 4th Q.

Well, if nlothing else, it's a) a win, b} nice game planning by coach LaFluer, c) a great team effort. The good stuff? Three picks, good rushing day, and almost flawless job by Malik running the offense. The not so great Big chunk plays given up, the fumble into the end zone which really would have blown this open early, and finally, and ive said this so much during the last two years that I should put it to music, The kicking game. Hitting that last fg would have taken a ton of pressure off the defense at the end. A win is a win though GOPACKGO! On to Tennessee!

A win is a win is a win right? Hey, with a QB who's been here like 20 days I thought MLF designed a hell of a gameplan, especially in the first half. The Packers had the ball for OVER 40 minutes. When you run for over 260 yards, have DOUBLE the time of possession, and give up just 10 points, you'll win some games.

OMG...This kicker is going to give me a damn heart attack! We once again have a kicker who has missed a kick in each game. At least Carlson started out hot. That's 2 times now, in the FORTH quarter, this kid has missed an important kick. He makes that kick and I'm looking at him a whole lot different this afternoon.

The defense gave up some big plays BUT they gave up just 10 points and created 3 more TO's. That's 6 TO's in 2 games.

I'll take it every time!!

Yeah there were a couple of plays I was wonder just what the hell McDuffie was doing. I'd like to see MORE Cooper and Hooper and less McDuffie and Walker.

Like I mentioned above...If our kicker makes that kick today I have a COMPLETELY different opinion of him right now. I can't believe after complete offseason, draft, free agency, 3 kickers in camp and a waiver claim from Tennessee, were EXACTLY where we were at the end of last season.

Quay looked like the worst defensive player on the field. Dropped gift int, broke contain for a monster JT run to the outside, broke contain on the QB on the final drive for that first down run. All his tackles are 5-6 yards down the field and none are solo tackles. He's useless, just a big dude that's athletic but the dumbest player in the NFL.

McDuffie didn't look amazing but did have some solid plays. edge in the plays he was out there he looked really bad. He's not ready yet and needs more time to develop. I'm fine with him getting 10-15 snaps and see if he progresses over time to give him more snaps.

I missed the kick. I feel extremely confident every time he goes to kick. I felt very nervous every time Carlson kicked it. I think he's going to continue to improve. He has a great mentality and takes accountability for the misses.

Put in Cooper over Quay. Quay broke contain and cost them a long run and the dropped game ending pass. The dude is useless.

You’d think people making a yoochoob video would jot down the points they wanted to hit beforehand. (One could easily post the jottings as a gut reactions post.) Apparently that’s not what’s done; one simply turns the camera on and starts to blather. When there’s no effort put into the production, it’s not worth the effort to watch.

Surprised by the negativity on here today. The bottom line is the pack won a game with Malik Willis. The colts knew we were going to run, and we still ran for over 200 yards in the first half. Even with all the sloppy play, which will get cleaned up, the Packers won a game today pounding the rock with Malik Willis at QB.

GB took off some points off the board this week but not as many as last week, missed FG, and fumble in the endzone. If those mistakes don't happen GB is up 26-3 with 6 minutes left in the game. If they are in between the 30 to the 40 on the opp side of the field, go for it on 4th and 4 or less every time.

Quay looks horrible, I think Edge needs to be the MLB starter over Quay. Evan is a great deep safety it appears. DB's did a much better job. They improved slightly in penalties and tackling but there's still room for improvement.

Grades:
Def:
1.) Devonte 87
2.) Mckinney 85
3.) Eric Wilson 81
4.) Evan Williams 77
5.) LVN 70

OFF:
1.) Malik 89
2.) Jacobs 83 (fumble cost him big time)
3.) Doubs 81
4.) Tom 80
5.) Jenkins 78

Bottom scores

1.) Quay 44
2.) Mcdouffie 49
3.) Myers 55
4.) Gary 56
5.) Bo Melton 56

SPT's player of the game=the punter
SPT's loser=kicker

Offensive coaching: B+ (penalties still high, should've opened up the 3rd with a bit more passing as they sold out completely on the run after the half.
Defensive coaching: B- (gashed in run game late, too much prevent late and many bad memories pop up from prevent defense)
SPT's: B+
Overall coaching grade B

So, they still have room for improvement (tackling, long field goals 45+ yds, penalties, second half adjustments to their adjustments needs to be faster, one secondary missed assignment, LB's losing containment on 2 big runs.

It appears the weakest link on offense is Myers blocking and Walker's penalties. The weakest link on defense is the LB's. Hopefully Jenkins moves to C, Ryan to LG and Morgan to RG, Cooper to MLB, and Hooper and Wilson at OLB and Quay in on passing downs only.

I am glad Jeff improved the defense and got more pressure (even though the sacks are less). But the run D struggled late in the second half and the prevent defense gave me nightmares. I think the secondary did a better job today but did catch some breaks with 3 easy open drops by the Colts and one blown late assignment on a 20 yd pass vs Valentine. Valentine was focusing on helping deep and not covering his man for some reason. I hope Jeff can hold the Titans to 0 offensive points. The titans run game is not as good as the Colts or the Eagles and QB is not as good as Hurts and maybe on par with Richardson but doesn't have the arm or athleticism. They do have a better run defense than the Colts and about on par with the Eagles. Their passing defense is above average.

If Love is out for another game or two, and the Packers can continue to prove they can feature a potent rushing offense with any of the three RBs in their stable (plus a number of their WRs can effectively run the ball out of their backfield as well), imagine what it might look like if Love comes back and rounds into form again.

Lots of negative shots at MLF, but the Packers offense looked good with Malik Willis at the helm- a guy who doesn't know the playbook and who can only manage to do two things when the call is a pass play: 1) Check to see if it's one high or two high safeties, 2) stare at the primary read until he gets open. Yes, that's a knock on Malik Willis (and it's accurate.) Also, that's a testament to MLF's gameplan to put the Packers offense in a position to succeed with Willis under center. Pretty much all RPO looks, and he selected plays that got the primary open so Willis didn't have to go through a progression.

I'll take the W.

Oppy, perhaps some humility and accept that Willis did his job, and performed admirably. He outplayed the 5th overall pick in the 2022 draft, he ran the plays he was given, and he won. If MLF hadn't lost his nerve he would have won bigger.

They asked him to hand the ball off 50+ times. They made nearly every play look like a RPO. And most importantly, watch the film and watch Willis on the passing plays. As soon as the ball is snapped, he takes one look at the safeties to see if they're both dropping or not, and then he immediately looks at one WR and rarely ever looks at any of his other reads.

It's exactly why he will likely be out of the league in 2 years. it is what it is. I'm happy MLF put him in a position where he could minimize errors, but the reality is we scored 16 points and a QB who can't read nuanced defense and doesn't go through his progressions isn't an NFL caliber QB.

Of course he had a limited playbook, he's been in camp 3 weeks. Everything is coming at him fast, including NFL defenses. You want him to be a quarterback that he isn't. He is much more Justin Fields than Brock Purdy, why insist he needs to be Purdy?

I don't know if the kid is a career back-up or if he's going to become Geno Smith, but he is 1-0 in the NFL.

He’s not nearly the QB that Justin fields is.

I’m not quite sure why people want to twist my assessment into some sort of expectation that Willis be a top tier starting qb. However, to even be a viable option for NFL teams to sink resources into as a back up QB, you need to be able to read coverages and go through your progressions. progressions. These are basicj skills that typically are prerequisite to even gain entry into the NFL that Willis outright struggles with. It’s you who wants to make Willis into something he isn’t- and that’s a Lamar Jackson type QB. He isn’t; because he lacks the basic QB fundamentals that Jackson posesses.. Basic fundamental QB play.

Want a real gut reaction???

How about ask Myers...He threw up on the ball, which according to Willis caused him to not throw the ball on a play. Myers said he threw up during Eagles game as well. Conditioning? Nervousness? Hungover? Weak a$$ stomach?

I've heard of players puking before, but damn, caused an alteration of a play...???

you can only link a non-hyperlinked address. either break it by adding a few spaces, or break the link by turning off hyperlink. it's the only way you can post.

Notes on Defense
- People on the lack of pass rush gotta chill. Do you not realize the last two weeks were about containing dangerous running QBs? The D has to stay in their lanes and let the QB try to beat them in the air. They did that quite well until late in both games. The pass rush will be fine, when we don’t have to contain. It’s part of the gameplan. I’d rather not get Kapernicked ever again.
- Rushing. I know people are upset with missed tackles. It’s league wide. AND this D is still new. AND we just played arguably the two best running backs in the league not named Jacobs. Let the Defense grow a bit.
- Holding any team at all to under 20 is really hard. We held them to 10. This isn’t the league of old. 90% of the time you hold the other team to 10…..that’s a win. D did their job. Hats off to Hafley.
- Trivia: How many times did Joe Barry’s D hold a team to 10 or less in 2023? 3 times in 19 games. How many in 2022? 1 time in 17 games. Hafley after 2 games?
