Confessions of a Polluted Mindset - Resolve and Resiliency
The Weekly Packers Brain Drain from Jersey Al.
By JerseyAl

No doubt this was a gutty win for the Green Bay Packers. They overcame adversity, some of their own making, some out of their control, but they personified the word being thrown around this week - resiliency. Their quarterback struggled to play through an injury before taking a seat, the defense lost their most effective configuration when Evan Williams went down, but they fought through it all and found a way to add another win to their ledger. And that's because they displayed another "R" word - resolve. It's defined as "a firm determination to do something," and the Packers had that in droves against the Jaguars in their building in Florida - the Packers' least favorite state to play in. The Jaguars are a better team than their record shows and there are no guaranteed easy opponents in the NFL. If you doubt that, go ask the Jets or the Ravens this week.
You gotta love that for the second time this season, we're told the Packers drew up a play in the dirt on the sideline (so to speak) that ended up being a difference maker in the game. First it was the TD bomb to Watson against the Cardinals and this time around it was the big play to Jayden Reed to get the Packers into field goal position near the end of the game. These types of in-game instant adjustments make me all warm and fuzzy.
It wasn't an easy adjustment day for Jeff Hafley, who had to change course when Evan Williams went down with an injury and Hafley struggled to find the right approach for most of the game. Who would have imagined that an injury to a rookie safety could cause such a problem for the Packers' defense? But it did. We also learned that Javon Bullard having to match up one-on-one in the open field with really fast receivers is not a good look for Green Bay. Come back soon Evan!
I'd love to see the Packers commit to getting Josh Jacobs the ball more - regardless of who is behind center.
It was good to see Devonte Wyatt back on the field. His energy and burst up front put offensive linemen on their heels. Also...
Devonte Wyatt leads the Packers in sacks with three. He didn't play for a month.
— Aaron Nagler (@AaronNagler) October 29, 2024
The Packers got an unusual trifecta of good injury news as early tests on Love, Alexander and Williams show that their injuries are not of a serious nature and all could be expected to play after next week's bye and possibly even this week against the Lions.
I know I'm not supposed to mention TJ Watt anymore, but it still hurts...
I'd love to just thoroughly enjoy watching TJ Watt play football, but I can't.
— Jersey Al - GBP (@JerseyAlGBP) October 29, 2024
Seeing the Lions - Titans score, it easy to think they were just marching up and down the field all day, and yet, the Titans had 416 yards of total offense versus only 225 for the Lions. Rushing yards were very close, but the Titans had 258 yards passing to only 61 for the Lions. So how is this score even possible? The answer is four turnovers that gave the Lions the ball deep in the Titans side of the field, where they went five for five in the red zone. Throw in a 90 yard punt return touchdown and a Gibbs' 76 yard touchdown run, and there you are.
It's no secret I tired of Aaron Rodgers' off-field drama, overbearingness and need to dominate the on-field decision-making with the Packers in his final couple of years in Green Bay. But that doesn't mean I would wish on him what is happening to him with the Jets. The Jets are so bad of an organization, even Aaron Rodgers can't find a way to help them win, despite them giving him everything he wants. Sadly, the only thing Rodgers is dominating now is the news cycle, where Rodgers news has become an industry upon itself. "All Aaron Rodgers All of the Time." Here' a screenshot of the first thing I saw on my phone this morning:

The Jets were a pretty decent team with a good roster, and Saleh had proven he could match wits in the league of 26 HCs and the 6 farm teams. But desperation move to get Rodgers and mis-developing their own QB proved toxic. I defended Rodgers the entire time he was in GB. But I was overly giving benefit of the doubt. The Jets and Rodgers deserve each other's misery.

I'm hoping somebody writes a tell all book about Rodgers' final years in Green Bay. Who made the decision to extend Rodgers' contract; what was the Rodgers - LaFleur relationship really like; how much influence did Rodgers have over the game plans and their execution; was there a Denver deal the year before Rodgers was traded to the Jets and how much was it; and what was Rodgers' relationships with his teammates really like?
Probably never happen, but it sure would make for some interesting reading after all the speculation here on CHTV.

I think Rodgers, as a younger man, likely had very good relationships with players who were the best @ their positions, ie., Jordy, Clay M, AJ Hawk, Cobb, etc.
He didn't do so well the development of younger players (understatement) Eventually, in his later years, I think he hoped Green Bay would just let him play 'good enough' football with his past-their-prime friends, M. Lewis, Cobb, Tonyan, Crosby, etc.

Both the Jets & Gents suffer from poor team building strategy, build the O line and good things will follow. Draft linemen in every draft no matter what round.

I will be surprised if Williams plays against the Lions. He injured his hamstring and while it was not seriously hurt hammys are notoriously easy to reinjure. I suspect the Packer medical staff will be very conservative with him and we will not see him until sometime after the bye. Love and Alexander - I have no idea but it sure would help if they could play.
Hafley is learning to be an NFL DC. And the opposing OC's get paid too. He isn't going to get every game plan right but he seems to get more right than Barry ever did despite Barry being a veteran NFL DC. Hopefully Hafley gets it right against Detroit even with some short staffing.

This is a great statement, Guam. Too often we hear commentaries and narratives that seem to forget that the Packers aren't trying to execute against air....there's 11 guys out there with coaching staffs who are getting paid to outmatch your guys. It's part of what makes football great.

Adding to that the fact that Evan Williams at the time of his injury which forced him out of our game at JAX was, statistically, one of the best Safeties in the NFL.
Removing a player of that caliber in Week 8 with a defense just starting to get their sea legs in a new system will be a noticeable set back.
At least Evan Williams' injury was not deemed severe, he should return eventually, and Gutekunst stacked the S position nicely. This will allow Hafley to get a possible replacement up to speed. I can't find any info on Kitan Oladapo's availability, but he'd definitely be a plus. Instead, we'll likely see Zane Anderson get some snaps, along with Valentine & Ballentine sharing the load.

On another topic....what do people think about the trade deadline? I'm having mixed opinions...thinking that an unhealthy trend is that there is early capitulation by the bottom dwellers, and then the top 10 or so contenders at midseason start padding their rosters. Just wondering if this really generates competitiveness? Seems that its the middle tier teams that shouldn't/wouldn't benefit by mid-season trades. The desperation market favors the top contenders who consider their short window, and ready to deal a late round from desperation teams, getting top players to pad their roster. Is this "the rich get richer"? Seems that moving up the trade deadline by even a few weeks would reduce this whole mid-year re-alignment. Just honest wondering, curious about thoughts from esteemed peers here at CHTV>

I've been hearing the Packers are looking mostly at defensive help. CB Greg Newsome from Cleveland is a name that I keep hearing.
Some rumors that the Packers might be looking to deal away Preston Smith. I don't think he's back in 2025, anyway.
In Edit: the Vikings get kudos for bringing in Cam Robinson from Jax to fill their LT spot with Darrisaw out. He's not great, but he's a decent LT and somehow he ended up in MIN. That was a good get for them, all things considered, and if they right the ship (they should boat-race IND this weekend) he might be a season-saver.

I think this is how it works in every pro sports league, and I've never questioned it. I've always thought it was a good thing that the contending teams get a chance to fine tune their rosters, and the bad teams get to improve their future prospects. As for the middle tier teams, they are perfectly free to make trades if they want to. I don't have a problem with any of this.
dobber
October 30, 2024 at 11:04 am
It didn't used to be that way in the NFL...even 10 years ago there wasn't a "trade deadline push" for teams. This kind of redistribution of players was mostly in MLB where salary capping was not an issue, then NHL/NBA, and finally in the NFL. Even today, the fire sale of decent (or star) players isn't usually a player for player thing, and I'd attribute that to complications in cap management. It's all about draft capital.
PeteK
October 30, 2024 at 11:28 am
There is a very strict cap in place which rewards teams that make smart financial decisions, and drafting with an eye not only on the present but the future, ex. drafting Love before trading Rogers.

Some realistic possibilities:
ED Azeez Ojulari - NYG
Gianst spent big on Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux and may not have the cap space for what Ojulari is looking for. 6 sacks on the sseason despite playing just 56% of snaps.
ED Jadeveon Clowney - CAR
Solid pass rush with great run stop. 71.9 run-D grade. 14 pressures and 1 sack for CAR in 2024. 54.0 pass rush grade per PFF.
ED Chase Young - NO
Huge pressures. Decent addition, and could be affordable.
FS Buddha Baker -ARI
6-time Pro Bowler, could be a huge addition for GB.
CB DJ Reed - NYJ
Excellent player, solid tackler. 5 PBU. 63.8 passer rating allowed.

The loss of Williams had a big effect. The best DB arrangement is with Alexander and Nixon at corners, Bullard at slot and Mckinney and Williams at Safety. Hope these guys remain healthy.
I liked how Wyatt pushed the lineman out of the way to recover the fumble. Great play.
Cooper needs to be in the lineup. He makes too many good plays. Hope he progresses through out the season to be a full time starter.
I think Walker has been ruined by Joe Barry. Time for Wilson to play more. Perhaps the new LB will come one. Hear he us more instinctive.
The Packers are still developing. They are in a good place, but need to become more consistent and have the coaches get the players in the right positions.
Trade possibilities. Stokes and Smith are potential for me. Idea is to trade for Raider DE Moseby(?) to improve the pass rush for a run.
Guam
October 30, 2024 at 07:29 am
I don't think it was just Walker that Barry ruined. Stokes is a shell of his rookie season self and seems to have forgotten how to play press man coverage. Barry's legacy may be longer than his three year tenure in Green Bay.
dobber
October 30, 2024 at 08:03 am
The Packers have a recent history that extends past Barry of DBs who flash in their first season in town, but give you the feel after that of someone who stayed too long at the party. Stokes, Randall, Jackson, Clinton-Dix...now it's starting to look like Valentine might fit that category, too. I wonder if that's just more about the position in general than the Packers' luck.
Coldworld
October 30, 2024 at 08:30 am
Stokes looks so much more hesitant and less confident in himself. I think that’s the injury leaving mental scars more than anything, as he seems to have his speed still.
Valentine hasn’t played badly, he’s just barely played. There’s a great deal I like about Hafley, but his handling of the corners leaves me a bit baffled. Nixon was easily as bad as Stokes last week on anything remotely downfield. He is not a corner you want against a QB that can throw downfield. He needs to be close to the line and preferably facing the play.
If the plan was to play off a lot, we needed to invest in some different skill sets in the off season. That is not Stokes or Valentine’s best suit. Then again we never tried Rochell who is much more athletic in a short area. Half coaching decisions and half personnel?
I would have have had a sit down with Stokes and show him film of his rookie play and similar plays this year. Tell him we need to see the former and, if we do, he will get another shot. Then I’d have played Valentine and also looked at Rochell, who was consistently good in camp.
I’d also ask Hafley if he’s really using his corners to their strengths, if I could. We seem to be calling more Barry type off coverages than I expected. We didn’t have a lot of success with them previously and we aren’t now, particularly when in zone. Jaire can play both, though off hasn’t been his best suit over his career either.

Agree CW. I have some confidence in Valentine or Rochell. I would also like to hear something about Oladapo and whether he could play SS. I think Bullard should be developed at SS, but he appeared to be as good or better than Nixon against the slot.

Barry needed to be fired, and I like Hafley, but I'm finding it hard to believe that players who are underperforming this season are doing so because they've been "ruined" by Joe Barry. It's up to Hafley to coach the players up and put them in a position to succeed. Any failings are the responsibility of Hafley and the players, not the previous DC.
Guam
October 30, 2024 at 08:43 am
"Old habits die hard."
Hafley has been DC for half a season, Barry was the Packer DC for three seasons. I suspect some of Barry's coaching still lingers and it will take Hafley more than half a season to root it out. I just hope Walker and Stokes are listening........

"I think Walker has been ruined by Joe Barry. Time for Wilson to play more. Perhaps the new LB will come one. Hear he is more instinctive."
My understanding of Jamin Davis (former 1st rounder now on PS) is that he profiles a lot like Quay Walker: good measurables, just not generating the plays you'd expect on field. He also had a very limited college track record. When the new coaching staff came into Washington, they moved him (6'3", 235 lb) to edge and his snaps slowly disappeared.
Maybe it's about a change of scenery....maybe it's about just not having "it". Packers are kicking the tires, though, and I give them credit for that.

Or a Rasul Douglas. Sometimes it's a Jaylon Smith who only lasted a couple games and was cut loose.
He's got all the pieces, physically. The question is whether it's between the ears or "want-to"? My bet is he doesn't stay on the PS very long, and he might get an elevation early--especially with Walker dinged.
Coldworld
October 30, 2024 at 08:34 am
I dug into Jamin last night after a discussion of his play last year and this. He’s lighter and faster than Quay. Other than that, the more I saw the more eerily similar to Walker he seemed.
There is some speculation out there that being started at Mike as a rookie smothered his athleticism and instincts by causing him to slow down and think at the snap instead of just reacting and playing fast. I read those comments and Walker came immediately to mind. His second year was at Will. He flashed there but was inconsistent.
One early criticism was a tendency to run around blocks and avoid big offensive lineman instead of engaging in blocks and learning to shed them. He was somewhat better last year apparently, back at Mike as the starter for 13 games (and leading tackler for the season) due to injury to their intended Mike. When he reads a play, he’s really hard to block—he is fast without doubt but, like Walker, the question is how often that occurs.
That dive has also left me feeling that it is even more worthwhile keeping Walker away from the dot and just letting him play. I can see why we picked this guy up. What is less clear to me is if his past team gave up on him after a season when he started to get it or if he just was the least worst option.
He’s actually been pretty decent as a coverage DE (not as a rusher) in limited spot play this year (at 235, he’s not a conventional DE). That change was made in the off season I think he survived this long there because of injuries and was released as soon as some returned. After declining his 5th year option they seem to have just decided to move on.
Now let’s keep Wilson at Mike going forward. This exercise just made me value his savvy, not just his recent play, even more.

The word on the street seems to be the Jets’ offense (very little motion, misdirection, and lots of straight drop back passing relying on iso routes by the receivers) is totally outdated, and that their O-line is below average.
Is that the explanation? Or just the “popular” story?
I don’t know Saleh’s entire career arc, but I remember him as SF’s highly coveted DC who got his chance as HC with the Jets. We all saw that trainwreck. Now he’s starting over. Seems like a good dude. I wish him well.

OL has been a problem for the Jets for ages, but they have talent at the skill positions. If you go back to that game last weekend against NE, they just didn't have it.
Saleh was scapegoated for their awful management...I have no idea if QB1 had anything to do with his demise. Still, Saleh will be coordinating a defense for someone next season, and I think he'll get another crack at HC.

October 30, 2024 at 08:58 am
The Jets have got worse since Saleh was let go, on both sides of the ball. Offensively, removing Hackett from play calling doesn’t seem to be an improvement. Nor do their problems seem to have reduced or even changed. Just a mess. There were rumors that Saleh was never enthusiastic about Rodgers arriving. If they are true, he is being somewhat vindicated.

The Jets weren't dysfunctional for more than the last decade?
Wouldn't you say that because of their dysfunction, they traded for Rodgers in the first place?
Bitternotsour
October 30, 2024 at 10:52 am
The Jets "disfunction" is overrated. Did the Jets not have a young ascendent defense and did Saleh not establish an identity on that side of the ball? Their owner is a moron, true, but it wasn't the dumpster fire Al would have you believe. They took a calculated risk with Rodgers and his "crew" of familiars, but many people (including Al, no?) thought that risk was worth it. Saleh wasn't strong enough to stand up to Rodgers and this is the result. Now there's an aging duplicitous quarterback with failed wheels, and an owner who doesn't understand his own limitations. How shocking will it be to see Rex Ryan back on the sidelines with a 4-year 60 million dollar deal next year? I'm sure the vision of that will have Rex's wife's feet moist in anticipation.

I listen to a number of shows and people talking about GB. The one I heard Monday that stood out to me was when they were talking about this was a Meh game. That we learned nothing new about this team and it was just a win. I disagree with that take. This team had to overcome their QB getting hurt on the first drive and clearly was trying to play through the pain. Bringing in the backup QB who didn't take any reps with the first team. Also they lost their starting Safety which ended up changing the whole DB room.. They overcame a lot. Plus they never play well in Florida.
"Who would have imagined that an injury to a rookie safety could cause such a problem for the Packers' defense?"
Its crazy to think that a rookie is so vital to the defense. But Williams has been a hell of a player so far.
If Williams is not able to go Sunday, i could see a possibility that Kitan Oladapo becoming the starting Safety and keep Bullard in the slot.

I heard that take, that it was a "meh" game and we didn't learn anything. It was Andy Herman and that other guy. Usually I like Andy's takes, but this one didn't make any sense to me. In addition to the things you mentioned, what about the great rushing performance from Josh Jacobs? Didn't that teach us something? And another solid performance by our new kicker. I could go on and on. I thought it was a really nice win, warts and all.

It was Andy. And Justis.
"In addition to the things you mentioned, what about the great rushing performance from Josh Jacobs?"
yes exactly. And this came right after Barnwell had an ESPN article basically saying that Jacobs has been a disappointment and whatnot.
Yeah this wasn't a splashy win because the Jaguars are now 2-6. But look at the Jaguars games. They lost to the Dolphins by 3. To the Browns by 5. They got blown out by the Bills. Lost to the Texans by 4. They beat the Colts, Lost to the Bears, Beat the Patriots. They came into GB by winning 2 of their last 3.
Also for GB it could have been a trap game. They play the Lions the next week and then have the bye. A lot of the guys could have overlooked this game.
They didn't and were focused. Unfortunately injuries derailed the game and what it could have been.
But it was a good win. They found a way to win when they didn't play their best.
And how about this. They scored 30 points when they didn't have their best game. Their star QB was hurt and had to use a backup QB.

Yes—Oladapo has been on my radar as well.

I think the chances are low that this happens. I just could see it as a possibility. I think they really like Nixon at outside CB with Bullard in the slot. If Williams can't go, I could see them trying to keep Nixon and Bullard in the CB roles, which would put a different S in. I think Oladapo would be a logical choice.

Oladapo seems to me more a bigger box safety at this point. His strong points are short area quickness and run support. I’d be nervous playing him deep regularly, particularly for his first snaps on D.

Yeah, I don't see him going from weekly inactive to starting SS unless Bullard gets run over by a kid on a bike on the way to practice this week.

I think its a small chance. But clearly Anderson is not preferred at S. And I think they really like the trio of Alexander, Nixon and Bullard at CB. If Williams can't go that leaves Oladapo.
I'm not saying this will happen, just saying I could see this possibly an option that they could do.

Against a Lions team that likes to run the ball and go through the TE's I think Oladapo would be a good safety to use.
I just really get the feeling they don't really like Stokes and Valentine right now. And I think they would prefer to use Nixon outside. I just think this might be a good way for them to get the CB position to how they prefer.

Big shout out for Josh Jacobs. He was a work horse in 80's temps and the humidity. My daughter was at the game and said it was pretty hot even in shorts and a t-shirt, and she lives in Savannah.
Hopefully some film review and corrections will help the D. Too many big gains off of short check downs. But the Jags are a very talented team who is much better than their record, so kudos to the Packers for grinding and getting the win.
At this point there is no feeling bad for Aaron. He's the one that skipped mini-camp in '22. when a bunch of rookie receivers needed to get some time with him, and then the next year with the Jets he's preaching about how important is was to get as much work as possible with his new receivers. Such a damned diva.

Won't someone think of poor Aaron Rodgers, who is clearly the victim in the Jets saga. Also, Gutekunst never gave him the weapons, or something.

Good article Al. The entire team deserves credit for overcoming the adversity they faced against the Jaguars. Whelan was a big factor in the game along with Josh Jacobs, the OL and Willis. We'll see how the Packers decide to handle their less than seriously injured players. Will they rest Love, Alexander and Williams until after the bye week or play them against the Lions. This is a big game but it is stilll only one game with 8 games left after the bye week. It might be wise to allow our players to get fully healthy for the playoff run after the bye week.
As for the Jets they. have been dysfunctional for decades. When will they ever learn? Thanks, Since '61

You make a great point: there's so much season to go, yet, and there's no idea how things will play out for the teams ahead of you. I think if it were later in the season they'd be pressing harder to get these dinged starters in the lineup, but at this point the calculus--especially with the bye looming--is much harder to do.
You always need to try to beat the teams ahead of you, but we saw the Lions burn hot for awhile last season and then sputter in the final third of the season. It's hard to play hot like that for an extended period...they'll lose some games yet.

Bullard started at safety until a few weeks ago, and he did not appear to be a liability out there, so I'm hoping that his struggles last week were caused by having some tough assignments and not being fully prepared for them due to not playing at safety recently. Of course, the Lions will be a big test for everybody, even without Jameson Williams.

I have been furious with Rodger's egocentricity and cruelty to Saleh but I cannot stomach the concept of kicking someone when they are clearly down. I do think it would go a long way for him and his tarnished legacy if he sincerely apologized to both fanbases, returned or donated 50M and got off the field (won't happen, I know)--
IR is likely in this case.
Michael Irvin insightfully commented yesterday that 'these types of guys who never listened to outside voices and gained great success have difficulty realizing that trait is currently harming them'.

I've never been a fan of Michael Irvin, but he's right about this. I also remember that when Brett Favre joined the Vikings, Irvin said Favre was making a bad decision because he would tarnish his legacy with the Packers by playing for one of their biggest rivals. Irvin was the only national sports commentator who I can remember saying that. I thought he was right, and I still do. I've never looked at Favre the same way again.

I have a a good feeling about this game even with the injuries.
Willis will move the chains with his arms/legs and we’ll win the time of possession match.
And as Al stated, the Lions win was not as impressive as the score indicated.
I have said all year (agreeing with Al), feed the ball more to Jacobs—especially with some additional screen plays.
I think Gutey makes another impact move—a CB perhaps?
Let’s blitz Goff until we can’t.
Go Packers!!!

Agree that Gute might be shopping for a CB.
The Lions may be 1-2 years ahead of GB in terms of overall team development/dominance. I don't doubt it will be a good fight, though.

Al, thanks for your "Confessions" article. This, as well as your "Three Things" article are my two "must reads" here at CHTV. I don't wish Aaron Rodgers any ill will, but I also don't mind seeing his arrogance coming back to bite him with the Jets. I finally got to watch the game last night (FOX in Arizona showed the Cardinals game instead. I've lived in Tucson for 19 years now and can count on one hand the people wearing AZ Cardinals gear; the college Wildcats gear is everywhere.) Watching Love stumble and go down at the sideline was cringe inducing, hard to see how he'd be able to play vs. the Lions. Malik Willis will start to become a little "legendary" if he keeps this up. The Malik and Magnus pickups may go down in history on the level of the Andre Rison/Howard Green pickups for our Superbowl run last time if this somehow becomes "the year" for another Superbowl run!

"I know I'm not supposed to mention TJ Watt anymore, but it still hurts..."
Al you brought back painful memories of that 2017 draft which I watched on TV with my wife. I was on needles and pins hoping that T. J. Watt would fall to the Packers and my worst nightmare came true...Watt fell and Green Bay traded out of the spot only to select Kevin King in the top of the second round and JoshJones in the 29th slot of the second round. JUST A NIGHTMARE!

that entire draft, save Aaron Jones at the end of the 5th, was a nightmare. compare it to pittsburgh's, who had fantastic picks in the first three rounds

One of the measures of how good a team is is when they play against a good team. Another measure is when a team plays down to its opponent. I think the Packers can play well against a good team(Eagles, maybe Minnesota) but they made a mediocre Jaguars team look better than they are. Some of it was injuries but this was not the best performance by a talented Packers team.
What needs to happen Sunday is for Green Bay to simply go out and take control. It won't be easy to do because the Lions have talent everywhere and are well-coached. If Green Bay can keep the Lions around 20 points they have a shot at winning. If the Lions get their offense cranked up, it's over. The Packers will be the talk of the town if they can stop the rampaging Lions. If they don't, the Packers could be relegated to also-ran.

Well, yes—agree with you somewhat.
I believe, except for the oline, our offense is as good as the Lions. I also believe our defenses are similar, but we have a better secondary.
As for coaching—Campbell is a big dufus; they’re winning because they have the best o-coord in the league…and he’ll be a head coach next year.
Hail to ya Harry!

We'll see Sunday.
"Campbell is a big dufus". Many, many people would disagree with that statement. If that were true the Lions would still be the laughingstock of the league which isn't true any more.

Campbell makes unnecessary, reckless decisions that cost his team scores and games. His team is good enough to win without the trick plays that sometimes blow up in his face.

Isn't Campbell the coach who coughed up a Mustapha-class furball in the Championship game last year?
Here's the deal: This weekend, the Packers and the Lions are going to play a game and the winner is going to be a favorite to get to the Super Bowl. This is at the halfway point of the season. The loser is still a good team with a good chance of making the playoffs.
I think the Lions won't make it to the Championship game this year, and we've already witnessed their best season. The Decline starts this weekend.

There is a lot of trade talk going on about whether we need a DE or CB more? Personally, I think we need another reliable CB more than a DE, however, I recognize the urgency for both. But why isn't Valentine getting more playing time? With Stokes likely on his way out, wouldn't giving Valentine more playing time a logical choice?
As per Rodgers, he is his own, worse enemy in many regards. But let's face it, the Jets are a bad organization due to their crazy owner - kind of like Dallas? It starts from the top...

The reason why the Jets are bad is due to the fact they gave Rodgers everything he wanted LOL.
