I think that losing a second home game, in the first half of the season, would be a bad sign. Not fatal, but if a team can't win a game like this at home they're probably not a Super Bowl contender.

On the other hand, a solid win here would be EXACTLY what a contender would do. A well-executed, turnover free, 30+ points, like we did against Tennessee a month ago with our backup QB.

Defensively, I'm hoping for the best, of course, but every thing I see in the data and on the field leads me to believe that this is an average-ish defense that gets a lot of takeaways. As long as the takeaways continue, we should be in good shape, but sooner or later we're going to run into a team that doesn't turn it over, and then we'll know more about the defense. Right now, the takeaways are the #1 factor in our early season success.

Expecting us to get 30+, but I think the Texans will get to at least 24. I could see something like 34-24. That would be a real big win over a 5-1 team.

Hate to keep beating a dead horse here, but Houston 's scoring drives: 6 yards/11 yards/23 yards. Can't blame the defense for these scores. Actually, give them credit for it not being 3 TDs as opposed to 1 TD and 2 FGs. Can't expect to win games like this.

The interception on the throw to Watson should look real familiar to everyone.. That was the same play that Watson scored a TD on 2 weeks ago, and I caught some flack for saying it was a horrible decision to throw that ball, even though it was a perfect throw and the result was positive. Now you see why it was a horrible decision.. 9 out of 10 times that's not going to end up a reception. This time it was a pick.

These are the types of throws I've discussed that Love needs to learn from. He made such a high percentage of tight window or high-difficulty throws in 2023 that you can't expect that trend to continue. He will need to get burned a few times and learn when and where to push the limits.

Learning the hard way is still learning, and Love will come away from these lessons a better QB. He's already extremely good, top 10 for certain, probably just outside of top 5. He's going to be elite.

I'm not sure how many times in NFL history a team with a 5-1 or better record was +3 on TO margin but still lost the game. This defense was phenomenal.

It wasn't pretty for the second half offense, but this was a great outcome today, not only chalking up the "W" but also seeing Detroit eek out their own nail biting last second win over MIN.
