Mike Tirico, Trent Dilfer, Chris Mortensen and Mel Kiper Jr. discuss what the Packers should be looking for with the 23rd overall pick in next months NFL Draft.

No matter how much we 'study' these college kids between February and late April when they are selected by their respective pro franchises, there will be some who think Ted made a good choice at 23, there will be some who think Ted made a horrible choice at 23, and there will be some who curse Ted for the Justin Harrell pick - still. And despite all that is said and all that is written, nothing will matter until that guy steps on the field and does something.

Ted Thompson has clearly committed to the teams "improve from within" mantra. He has a team that went from 6-10 to a Wild-Card berth and a first round exit in the playoffs. That's improvement. But the next step is the toughest - ensuring the team doesn't experience the terrible slide that saw it spiral from a 13-3 Championship game participant to the aforementioned 6-10 squad.

We've got you covered this weekend. Starting Saturday at 3:00pm we will be LIVE blogging the draft from the two places that matter.

...just how large an improvement having Dom Capers implementing and calling the defense is going to make?

We all know I'm no draftnik. Goodness knows, I have trouble enough trying to keep track of the talent on the 32 teams in the NFL. I would simply be...

Great post from Tyler over at the Lounge in regards to Packer fans and what they can expect from Mel Kiper Jr.

Pete Dougherty's piece in the Green Bay Press Gazette on the choices facing Ted Thompson in the upcoming NFL draft is well written but misguided.

Great, great post from Brian over at Railbird Central regar

Packer fans will read a whole lot of swill over the course of the next two months regarding the draft and who the Packers may or may not be targeting.

The Steelers owner had this to say last night:

It's that time of year where the people who watch a lot of college football crawl out of the woodwork and pile mock draft upon mock draft on us as...

It's true you need to wait three full seasons before you can truly judge a draft class. But it's also true that in today's NFL, teams need at least...

I'd just like to point out that the player that we were all told incessantly over the 48 hours of non-stop coverage of the NFL Draft was the "most...

... it's interesting to note that the Packers currently have 13 wide receivers on the roster.

Sometimes, it's hard not to get despondent.

Why is it that people feel compelled to 'grade' the draft less than 24 hours after it's completion? It is such an amazing exercise in futility, I...

I'll give more Packer-centric draft thoughts tonight/tomorrow, but right now I want to tell you about the brilliance that is Day Two at the NFL Draft.

Well, I know I am constantly labeled a Ted Thompson apologist (though I'm pretty sure you don't need to apologize for your team getting to the NFC...

Brilliant. Love it. Perfect for McCarthy's offense.

Not that any of this will be valid on Monday morning...

Interesting (but futile) exercise over at Packer Update, where a "former scout" talks through the various positions on offense (defense to be done...

I keep reading how fans think Ted Thompson would be crazy to pick a QB in the first round. Why? Why is that such a far fetched idea? Aaron Rodgers...

It's that time of year. Football sites are abuzz with draft talk. Packer blogs and forums speculate about who the Packers will pick, not only in...
