I’m guessing a medical removal from the board. We have consistently avoided players with his kind of injury as inappropriate to be placed on a field.

Noted, Yes, he had spinal fusion to correct a previously undiagnosed congenital condition (to,go,with a foot injury). He also played a full season of CFB after this event in his Sophomore year.

There’s too much big game experience there not to kick the tires , CW - and as an UDFA at mini camp is a great way to do it.

Terrance Murphy had the same issue which led to a finding of congenital stenosis. That ended his career. Stenosis weakens the spine, so it’s vulnerable to further injury even after fusion as I understand it. Not my call, nor am I an expert, and it’s tough on him, but it seems plausible that the doctors are saying no on the majority, maybe all of the teams.

I am really glad that the draft is over. I think that we did really good - but the proof will be on the field next year. I am sick and tired about hearing how the JETS and GIANTS will be in the Superbowl. What a bunch of homers. I hope that AR is willing to work out with his new guys and I hope that the get Lazard signed quickly. Dont be surprised if another vet receiver comes in. I see that we did not take a Dback or safety. Does that mean that maybe we bring in an experienced guy or hope to develop a free agent to be signed? And what is with Mike Florio - why does he hate AR so much why does he hate the Pack so much - and what a loser - if you say you dont agree with him - he doesnt post your post. Somebody needs to talk to him -- if he cant take the heat he shouldnt be in the business

Carpenter is a hybrid, I believe that’s correct. EXACTLY what Joe Barry wanted when they drafted Quay Walker at #22 — a player he didn’t have to switch out. Multidimensional. Beautiful. This is getting to be a really cool defense materializing before our eyes.

They’re actually drafting the backups in same draft… wow. Dynamic talents & physical traits distinctive to what they want to do. Look at Jon Ford, a TJ Slaton backup/clone? Sure looks like it… Carpenter for Quay…!?!?

He was the best pure passer of the bunch. Off to Philly. He tossed for almost 4,200 yards and 36 TDs, last season, so the knees must be doing something right. Some of these less than enlightened geeks they hire for NFL jobs in personnel should actually watch the Film, instead of playing with the small screen on social media.

If you want to talk about a smart azzz - that knows nothing - just a loud voice it is Kiper - I would love to see a team made up of all his "top guys" before the draft - 3 or 4 years later and see what has happened. Surprisingly the GMs all took some smartening up pills and didnt run for the QB flavor of the month - taking someone later is great but that 5th year option and the first round salary for a bench sitter ( get it Gutey) isnt worth it. More flops that AR's . I dont know what Tomlin was talking about Pickett starting - even Ben didnt start - he won the Superbowl but he didnt start = Maddox started and Ben was number 3 - but injuries happened and the rest is history. Still think that Trubisky will do well in Pittsburgh -and Pickett will sit all year long.

It's a lot easier to get fired from a GM position than a hot-air job because when a GM makes poor picks it shows up in the W/L columns.

When Kiper is horribly wrong, it doesn't make a difference so long as people still watched the programing.

Three days of this bullshit is overkill, but Mel does his homework. He created the phenomenon along with Joel Bushbaum and his PFW draft profiles. You could go to Indy and attend the Combine free of charge and hang a few rows above the brain trusts and scouts. Talk to them later in the cocktail lounge when they jumped the buffet table during "happy hour." The NFL has reached the saturation point with some of this coverage. Is a guy going to buy groceries for his Family or a $350.00 replica Jersey branding some replicant version of a Hero?

First round contracts aren't out of control like they used to be, it was corrected a decade or more ago in the CBA (making sure vets get a much larger piece of the pie instead of handing rookies who never took an NFL snap record-breaking contracts), and the 5th year option is a HUGE money saver if you're talking about a young player who is developing into an all-pro much less a superstar at a premium position.

Teams didn't draft QBs in the first this year because there was more talent at other positions.

He is interesting. Jones type runner who is a good enough catcher to have taken snaps in the slot and elsewhere. Willing blocker despite his size. He’s got real burst. Pauline likes him much more than the nfl summarizer linked to by Al, though suggesting he needs some polish in his run game.

Oh, no no no no no.

Kylin Hill was considered the best RB in the SEC in 2019, same year CEH was drafted R1 by KC. He should have entered the draft that year, and likely would have been taken R1-2. Tried playing for new HC Mike Leach in 2020… No.

Kylin Hill was THAT MUCH OF A STEAL last year. Hopefully, his ACL surgery went well and the kid gets a chance to show what he can really do.

I’ve got nothing against Goodson, and actually like him a lot, but he can’t hold Hill’s jock.

I believe Gute was not just blowing smoke when he mentioned that they think a lot of Tyler Davis as an all around TE. That buzz was also around last season. They may well have thought him a better option than many of those in the draft.

They also picked up Alize Mack. He’s an interesting guy. Scouts either loved him or loathed him. I’ve not watched him, so I don’t have insights, but depending whom one reads, he’s a guy they might also like. TEs typically take time to come into their own, Gute seems to like ones that have been in the league learning.

Looks like the Eagles got Covey, that sucks because they are already loaded at WR. Maybe he is available after cut downs. He's small so maybe GB didn't even want him but I think he'd be a great option for special teams at first, WR/Gadget guy down the line.

Have to say though that RB Tyler Goodson looks surprisingly good for an UDFA. Pretty happy with that signing. If you haven't already go watch some highlights, he's fun to watch.

Foot speed is what stands out with him. He doesn't run a 4.3 but he's got that instant torque, he cuts on a dime and is pretty physical for a guy his size. Hope he makes the team, we need a jitterbug guy like him.

Raleigh Texada's speed also stands out among the crowd. Good competition for Jean Charles and Ento, STs gunner or possible PR.

I like this draft with the exception of not drafting a top quality Edge rusher. My only concern with the draft as Gutey really did a nice job in every other aspect filling needs IMO.

Kingsley Enagbare at Edge definitely dropped and I certainly will be hoping he is going to surprise. He seems mostly power and determination with minimal speed at 4.87. Great qualities to have for sure. However, in looking at Chauncey Manac as a UFDA he looks good and very fluid. Very different than Kingsley! Runs a 4.67 but looks much quicker and smoother turning the corner and getting out on the edge than Kingsley. To be fair Kingsley is also much more power and maybe 20+ lbs heavier who can set the edge better. Be fun watching these two guys compete with the other back-up Edge rushers on the team for those spots this summer. My point is do not overlook Manac who has a huge uphill fight to make the squad. He needs to get stronger and put on a little more weight but I do like his quickness and how he covers the field. Definitely a development guy but seems to have some upside to him.

Just saw on Packers wire the athletic comparison for Tyler Goodson and its Aaron Jones. They are almost identical in stature and athletic ability although Goodson has a slightly higher RAS.

Goodson seems to have a little more short area quickness and foot speed. Jones more explosion in his legs. Going to be pretty sweet to have a replacement for Jones on hand in case of injury or for next year when Jones likely and unfortunately becomes a cap casualty.

I also see Aaron Jones gone after this year along with Devondre Campbell because of his enormous contract. Those two alone will save us what $25 million plus? Quay Walker was a big reach @ 22, ( I would have picked Edge- Johnson FLA. ST.) but he will let us move on from Campbell.
2 UDFA safeties I would have liked were Marquis Bell-Florida A&M or Sterling Weatherford-Miami of Ohio. I am really surprised Bell wasn't drafted, 6'2- 210 and fast. Hmmm. Saftey will be a priority next year to move on from Amos. Losing good players is a fact of life. The salary cap really works in the NFL.

My most fervent hope is that the Packers can retain Byers . If I am not mistaken he was one of the handful of NDFAs who got a signing bonus . He is also among the few Dbs drafted among the 25 total picks. The beautiful thing is his RAS was .030 . I might manage on a good day something close to that and I am almost 60 . Go Byers and GPG
