PackerAaron - If you think it's the perfect time to move on and i think it's the perfect time to move on, how can the FO not see it?

Is it because they fear anything but the status quo after 17 years, or is it because they fear losing their jobs if they move on from 12 and 10 doesn't pan out?

Or do you think they bring AR back because they do have a plan and in their minds it's a viable plan to get back to the Super Bowl?

Corporations are conservative and don't like to take risks! That has been the mantra of this organization for a zillion years! Board directors afraid of losing their seats, Mark Murphy afraid of losing his cushy job, you name it... unlike all the other NFL teams that are run by owners who are risk taking entrepreneurs. This particular corporation has too many shareholders which means any meaningful push for change at the top would be almost impossible to do quickly.

I would LOVE to see this organization realize the Rodgers era is over but I guess it will be a slow, hard and eventual DRAMATIC end!

They don’t like to take stupid and unnecessary risks. They’re very willing to take calculated risks.

Thoughtful comment Leatherhead!

I think about the OBJ situation as one example. I truly believe him not coming to GB was more than the money. It was more we do not want this diva and problem in the locker room. Look at all the draft picks over the years. There are a lot of players with significant talent but who have personal issues, so the Packers do not take them. How about very talented players in the draft who are injured and the Packers typically will not take them even when they fall in the draft.

I had thought I had read once that the Packer President (Murphy) HAS TO MANDATORY RETIRE at age 70. Is that correct?

If true, how old is Murphy and will the Rodger's situation really have much impact on Murphy other than a legacy issue?

Bird,
Good questions!

Undoubtedly they know the public relations fall out from so many fans will be incredible if Rodgers leaves/traded. Most fans are not informed and do not know the cap/salary issues nor do they care.

I think you can add the whole is Jordan Love the answer bit as well. I want to believe he will be a very good and viable QB who just needs playing time/experience. If the Packers KNOW Love is not the answer and likely never will be than how would you trade Rodgers? You wouldn't no matter what unless there was an exceptional QB available in the draft that you had the draft capital to secure. Currently, there does not appear to be many great QB options (supposedly), plus even with Denver's #9 selection it likely would still require the Packers to use their #28 selection to get up in the top 4-5 spots. Would it be enough?

So, the goal is that Aaron Rodgers get another MVP title on the Packers future? Good plan!

The problem is that nobody saw this Covid illness. It is high probability that something similar will happen soon. And cap will go down. And than what? You always have to keep some reserve for poor years. It is not sustainable to believe everything will be OK. Because never will be OK. Remember Murphy's Law?

OK, well I look at it this way. We keep Rodgers and pay him a ridiculous amount of money and we lose 6 or 7 players that we can't afford to sign. We didn't get to the SB with what we had. So how will we get there with less than we have now? You trade Rodgers and start Love and we don't have a chance to get to a SB but we will have a more competitive team with cap space. What would you do?

I would get Rodgers told girl friend I'm not leaving Packers for Denver to be closer to you and she said adios sucker have a nice life.
His not retiring and staying a packer is the worst kept secret in football. Funny how zero players were begging him to stay. They all knew his plans and it was to force MGMT to keep Adams.
