Packers Question of the day - Match-ups to Watch Against the Giants

While the Giants make the trek from New York to Green Bay, the Packers' coaching staff is hard at work preparing their players for the upcoming primetime showdown.

How the secondary reacts to the three-headed monster the Giants have at wide receiver, or whether or not the defensive front can continue to halt the opposing run game, Sunday night will be filled with many storylines. Which will you be watching closely?

The obvious first watch is Packers DB's vs Giants WR's.

That maybe the most important matchup but a very close second will be the Packers front 6 vs Giants OL. If Packers Front can clog the running game again and get a lot of pressure on Eli, it will help the DB's out.

On offense the top matchup will be the Packers WR's vs Giants secondary. Giants have a banged up secondary and could be a game in which the Packers get the offense really rolling.

Daniels and Matthews vs the Giants offensive line... I have a feeling they are going to wreak havoc and cause some turnovers.

Remember Marshall Newhouse still starts for the Giants... There's your sign

Good lord can you imagine how atrocious his backup must be if Newhouse starts over him?

Good God Marshall Newhouse is still in the league? Giants must have big problems on the OL if he's a starter. I'd love to put Clay over that turnstile all day.

They will have to disrupt the drop back process or Eli will have a great day.

I think this front seven is the image we all had in our mind when Perry initially came to the team. CMIII on one side and Perry on the other; no where for opposing passers to run.

I don't see the Packers DBs sans Sam Shields containing the Giants' receivers. Particularly with Iwhine Beckam Jr. coming off of a bad game. So to me this comes down to #12 and MM. Can they find a way to put up enough points to win? There's a whole bunch of WRs who would like to see some playing time. Did the Packers keep that many because they are all that good, or because TT just didn't know which ones to keep? Let's find out this week.

It's going to come down to pass rush. If GB can harass Eli, and stop the running game, he'll throw it up for grabs. If not, those 3 WRs and 1 TE are as talented as anyone's in the league. I don't like that matchup for our secondary sans Shields.

On offense, I expect to put up points. A rhythm based short passing game, leading to shots over to top to Jordy. Perhaps a bunch of 4WR/1RB formations with Cook out. I'd like to see a LOT of Abby, Cobb, Monty and Lacy. Not so much Adams.

I think that establishing the run game in this one will be pretty important. If the idea is to keep those NYG WR at bay, owning TOP will go a long way toward achieving that. I'm not saying the Packers need to run 50% of the time, but being efficient and forcing the Giants to play honest against the run will be a key.

The pass rush, especially if they can create pressure with 4 guys. If they can't and Capers starts that crazy zone-blitz stuff, then we will see NY WRs running wide open 15-20 yds downfield all game.

Preseason was full of a lot of hype about the depth in the secondary, hopefully the depth will surface soon.

Not just pressure but collapsing the middle. Clark & Guion must be in Eli's ugly mug all evening.

If you can make Eli move his feet, he'll make mistakes.
