Packers 32 Falcons 33: Game Balls & Lame Calls

OK so it wasn't the Julio Jones show that we thought it would be, but the result was the same as I expected.  The Green Bay Packers were down several key players heading into this tough road game against the Atlanta Falcons and managed to make a game of it, but still came up short.  There were some positive things that happened that the Packers can build on, but wins and losses are what matter and they didn't get it done in that area.

The cure for a tough loss is some home cookin' and a seemingly easy opponent and that's what is coming Green Bay's way next week as the Indianapolis Colts come to Lambeau Field.  On to the day's best and worst.

Game Balls

Aaron Rodgers

Maybe he IS back.  Rodgers threw for over 200 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions on the day.  He took the offense over 80 yards late to put the Packers ahead with a chance to win.  That's not something we would have expected out of Rodgers earlier this season.  He posted a quarterback rating over 100 as well.  Rodgers looked more comfortable back there and moved around well, running for over 60 yards and converting a two-point try after the team's last touchdown of the day.  His throws were crisp and he hit on a nice deep ball to Jordy Nelson early in the game that was reminiscent of years past.

With an undermanned offense that was missing their top two running backs and receivers Randall Cobb and Ty Montgomery, Rodgers made use of some new targets in Trevor Davis and Jeff Janis.  This Rodgers is the guy this team can start to lean on and carry the Packers to bigger and better things this season.

Davante Adams

12 catches a week after he recorded 13 against the Chicago Bears.  Adams has emerged as Rodgers' go-to guy and he's paying dividends.  Adams made some nice runs after the catch until the Falcons defense started pressing him to take away the quick throw that was working early in the game.  When Adams has confidence, he makes plays in bunches and he's now done it two weeks in a row.  It's a trend now to the point where it's unlikely that Adams falls back into the abyss that he was stuck in last season.  And the Packers have to be very happy about that.

Trevor Davis

Davis made his first NFL catch on the day and added a few more in.  He also had a nifty 55 yard punt return.  Davis stepped up in the absence of Cobb and Montgomery and gives the Packers some hope that he can start to contribute more as the season wears on.  Speed is something this offense has lacked in recent years and it's good to see the Packers finally with a weapon they can use in that capacity.  Once the deep ball to Davis becomes a thing, defenses will have trouble covering all of the tools the Packers have in the box.

Lame Calls

Final Drive Defense

The Packers preferred to play back and keep everything in front of them on the final drive, which allowed Atlanta to easily move down the field and score the go ahead touchdown.  I understand having to play to the strengths of your players and the Packers cornerbacks are both slow and inexperienced, but you have to take chances and try to win.  I didn't like not sending additional pressure on Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan or some sort of wrinkle the protection wasn't ready for.  They easily picked up the rush and Ryan picked the defense apart to seal the win.  I'm not dumping on Jake Ryan entirely, as it would seem that there should have been some deeper help by a defensive back.  It was bend-but-don't-break and the Packers defense broke.  It cost them this game.

Injuries & Missed Opportunities

Is it any wonder this game ended the way it did?  Too many important guys hurt, too much inexperience on the field. The Packers also dropped at least one interception.  That's happening far too often this season and it's costing them each and every time.  LaDarius Gunter jumped a pass on the Falcons final scoring drive and couldn't haul it in.  The receiver may have had a hand on it but during postgame interviews, Gunter said himself that he left one out there.  He had the read and the break on the play.  He needs to finish, just like this Packers team in close games like that, especially on the road.  Instead of a game-sealing turnover, Atlanta lived.  On the game-winning touchdown pass, Jake Ryan was too shallow in coverage, thinking that Micah Hyde had his man covered deep.  Neither did.  Sanu was wide open.  Atlanta scored.  Ball game.  Ryan has been up and down this season but overall has made some good progress.  Coverage is never going to be his thing at his speed but he hopefully learns from this moment.  If Hyde was supposed to be on Sanu and wasn't, maybe I'm giving him too much credit for being a smarter player and it's time to remember that he's been a liability in coverage quite a bit.  It's that simple in the NFL: Teams who find a way to make plays win, those who don't. . don't.

Others to mention

  • Mike Daniels with a nice sack and good push up front
  • Demetri Goodson was beat deep for Atlanta's first score but the throw was right on the money.  Tough to defend but Goodson took a lot of heat because of the reputation he brought in with him for being a liability at corner.  Overall, however, not a bad day for a guy the Packers never hoped would have to play a lot of meaningful snaps on defense
  • Jake Schum - at least did what most punters should indoors.  He kicked the hell out of the football.  A 58 yarder for his longest and a 54.3 average on three kicks.  Were it not for Jeff Janis losing a football in the lights (what is this, baseball?!), he may have pinned Atlanta on their own two-yard line.  Now go do this outside at Lambeau, Jake, and we may start to forget that rough start you had
  • This team has a hard time turning up in pressure situations.  Call that last scoring drive by the Packers offense just that and a success, but to follow it up with such a weak performance on defense kind of mitigates the goodness and makes us forget how well that 80+ yard drive was by Rodgers & Co.
  • Datone Jones with two penalties today.  The roughing the passer, he needs to do a better job of holding up or push Ryan versus going in head first.  The second offside is something that happens from time to time, I'm not giving out a lame call for that
  • On to Indy

Lame calls:

MM not calling TO with one minute left.
Rogers wasting a time out, as usual, in 3rd quater tring to get D to jump.
Capers not blitzing on final drive. I may be wrong but I don't think Atlanta had a 3rd down on the last drive. Pathetic.
Capers - two man rush, are you kidding me?

When Rodgers threw the Hail Mary in Detroit they only rushed 3 men. Capers should have learned from that. You have to pressure the QB. Other teams replace coordinators all the time. I really don't understand why they still have Capers as DC.

The only lame call I am giving out is on Capers. Once Atlanta moved to the GB 40 on the last drive, you let them score. They were content to just bide their time, knowing they could punch it in when they had to.

Play like this and get healthy and this team will be very hard to beat in January.

I don't agree, but have wearied of this argument from Acme Packing threads. I know I didn't feel all that confident that AR and the offense would get us into FG position. We had 2 punts, and a TD in the 3 preceding drives in the 2nd half, and ended up turning it over on downs. We did stop Atlanta from scoring TDs on 4 of their 8 possessions, and forced punts on 2 of their 8 drives. Neither scenario (Atlanta would definitely score a TD or that we'd be able to move into FG range) was anything like a given.

Game Balls:
Completely agree

Lame Calls:
Final Defensive drive - While I agree with it, did we really expect anything different? The biggest thing I was hoping for is for them to give up the TD fast to give Rodgers time or to create a turnover. Give Atlanta credit. They played their final drive perfectly...

Injuries & Missed opportunities:

While Gunter said he missed one, it looked like to me on the replay he never touched the ball. I give him a bit of a pass...
The play that bothers me the most was the ball that bounced up right in front of Clinton-Dix. All he has to do is to reach down and catch the ball... He does game is over!

Others to mention:

I have been on Goodson forever. Outside of the long TD pass he gave up (which he didn't have bad position on him) he wasn't as bad as I thought he would be.

Datone Jones - I'm sorry but that was a pathetic Roughing the QB call. if they are calling that, then there easily should have been 2-3 called against Atlanta.

Another pathetic call was the DPI on Gunter.

Gunter does everything right on the play... and yet a horrible call by the refs keeps the Falcon drive going. I still don't know what they claim Gunter did. Play excessively good D?

It's crap like that (and not just against the Pack - but in any game I have an interest in) that makes me question what is the purpose of watching these games. PI, holding & personal foul penalties are so arbitrary (and can easily decide the outcome) it makes me wonder how I can take the results of these games seriously.

Last season I read a piece on Yahoo! Sports how Pete Morelli's crew was yanked from a Sunday night game after week 12 for errors made in the Az Cardinals- 49ers game and some other refs have been suspended too for mistakes, I guess we will always see crappy calls but it's the ones that affect the outcome of the game that p*ss us off the most but I don't think any of the calls in Sunday's game directly changed the outcome .

There was also a obvious hold by Hooper I believe on Hyde. That one was obvious, the Ref had an amazing view of it but was to caught up in watching Atlanta pick up a 1st down! ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Game Balls...
Davis... The TD Catch by Davis was a great catch, especially for a rookie. His PR showed just how fast this kid is. WOW!!
Gunter... Yes he left an INT on the field, but he still played a hell of a game.
The last drive of the first half. To score with 27 seconds left on the clock at the start of the drive was great. I thought now THIS is Aaron Rodgers.

Lame Calls...
The Packers first Drive of the 2nd half.
I guess when McCarthy cam out at Halftime and said they need to run the ball he meant next week against Indy.
The TO Rodgers used trying to get 5 yards... I wonder if they had that TO do they use it instead of letting Atlanta bleed the clock.
Capers Defense giving up 4th quarter leads... How many times have we saw Rodgers drive the Packers down the field only to see the Defense give it up. Yes they were down their Top 3 CB, but it happens all the time with them on the field too.
Richard Rodgers... My God did he even have a ball thrown his way? I understand the Atlanta LB'er are fast but common man....

They have to get Davis the ball more on offense. Find a way to use his speed more. Man, that kid can run. That PR... Wow. We haven't had a player with that kind of speed in I don't remember how long.

Rodgers was on yesterday. He had a couple of missed throws. But he was on. He had 2 bad plays by his WR's that could have netted in bigger gains. Allison dropped a pass with no one really around him. (perfect play design btw). And Nelson had that bobble catch. If he catches that and runs with the ball he has a big gain.

And I don't want to hear anymore about Rodgers 4th Quarter come backs. He led his team from behind in the 4th Quarter to take a 6 point lead. The defense then allowed Atlanta to win the game.

I do wonder what would have happened if the Packers didn't have to use a TO for Nelson getting hurt on that final drive. They would have had 2 time outs left. Instead only had 1 left. I think it changed their thinking a bit.

Strangely enough, our speedsters long receptions were 9 (Trevor) and 10 (Janis) yards long. Jordy had explosive plays (58 and 21) and Geronimo clocks in at 17 yards. I could add Adams' 22 yarder, but that was in the flat and he very creditably broke a tackle for a ton of YAC. The passes in the air for more than 10 yards that were caught were few - like 3 passes, IIRC.

That is a bit strange isn't it.

I was really impressed with both rookie's sideline awareness... Davis made 2 tremendous catches falling out of bounds.

Adams nearly broke that other tackle which would have been a huge gain.

Didn't forget Janis's speed. Janis just has more build up/long speed. Davis has more quick speed and can turn a corner like he did when he turned on the juices down the sidelines. He just seemed to separate from people, that we haven't seen for a while.

I know everyone is upset at Capers for that last drive, but what did we expect with so many injuries? If they blitzed and the D gave up a big play, he'd get criticized for it too. Considering we were missing our top 3 CBs and Clay Matthews, it still came down to a touchdown with 30 seconds to go. Had Sanu dropped it or someone batted it down, then we aren't even talking about Capers.

I don't blame Capers for the loss... Plain and simple the loss is on the injuries...

I would have preferred to see Capers blitz more on that final drive though. If they are not holding up in coverage, then at least try to get pressure on Ryan. If they give up a quicker TD it gives Rodgers more time in the end.

That being said I don't blame Capers for that.

True or false. The team is different with the injured players playing?

There is a point in which your to injured to play well or how you want to play. These aren't backups that are injured. They are starters.

The offense is very limited playing 2 RB's that weren't on the roster 2 weeks ago. Their biggest weapon the last 2 weeks was out.
On defense your playing without your starting 2 CB's and best pass rusher. (I'm not even including Shields in this, just the players on the 53).

Injuries are a big time factor on this team.

It's also one thing to have a few injured starters on both sides of the ball, it's football right?

Secondly injuries are part of the game, every team has them.

It's completely another thing to have 4 starters on Defense including the 3 starting CB's and best pass rusher AND 4 starters on Offense plus 2 of their back-ups, one of which (Montgomery) seems to have become one of the more important parts of the offense.

That's not "Blaming", those are just the facts. You can call It what you'd like...

Isn't it interesting NP? These knee-jerk platitudes about "injuries are an excuse." If you are a PLAYER or COACH you have to approach it as "next man up," but as a fan, it's ridiculous to expect an unreasonably depleted roster to perform like a reasonably depleted one. It amazes me that arm- chair QBs think that THEY could call a more-effective defense than the coaches in a situation like this. BAD LUCK EXISTS people! It's not always "somebody's fault!"

Many whiners, er... fans, are complaining about the defensive approach on the last drive, but the defense HAD stopped ATL short of touchdowns several times in the game and HAD come close to a few interceptions. The coaches gambled that the defense could make the stop. Letting the ATL team have an easier score (by blitzing a QB who handles the blitz well--you know his nickname is "Matty Ice" for a reason...) would be "surrendering." That would be a really bad thing for team morale in this game AND the future.
Expecting them to stop the top offensive team in the NFL, when that team is playing four-down football, is/was delusional, but you simply CAN'T "surrender" 70 yards of football.

Without seeing the ALL 22 I can't say how Clinton-Dix was used on every play. It seemed from what I could see he was the man over top of Jones all game long. That is a scheme thing not a thing on Clinton-Dix.

The only play I did not like from Clinton-Dix was when the ball bounced up in the air right in front of him on the final drive and he didn't catch it. He could have ended the game on that play.

I guess he hasn't had many splash plays, but how have they been using him? I think they have been mostly played him deep so the other CB's don't get burned? I could be wrong but I believe that is how they have used him. If he is played deep then he won't have the big time plays.

Hands back: I think you're being a little harsh. He hasn't made as many splashy plays as Charles Woodson, but I can tell you that the Packers coaching staff has been very impressed with his progression. He's fearless in run support and has improved his tackling and communication greatly. He is a huge upgrade over Jerran McMillian, MD Jennings, etc. It doesn't help that our top 3 CBs are out either.

There were at least three picks that they should have made that would have changed the game. My biggest problem was Rodgers' choice to attempt 25 yards when they only needed 3 yards with 20 seconds and a t.o. to go.

This, IMO, is the key to the season so far for these Packers: the inability of the defense to generate key turnovers. Past Packer teams, regardless of the ranking of the defense, have always shown well in +/-...in part because ARod was usually very good in protecting the football, and they won the TO battle on a weekly basis. They need to get better in this regard. If they'd forced one TO yesterday, and I'm not even going to nit-pick about when, the game could have been very different.

They could have forced one when Quinn was trying to call a TO on that 12 men on the field penalty but the refs didn't notice him but it turned out good because Nelson stepped backwards from the first down marker. And if he got the time out who knows what the play after would have gotten GB.

I had to catch the game on tape so I was up until 2am with this nail-biter.

Good: MM and AR can change. And look at that - other receivers can catch the ball - including Janis. So now I'm feeling better about the team but there is barely a team left standing.

Bad: MM should get fired retroactively for not making these changes last year. Everything was blamed on losing Nelson. BS! - and most people here called it.

Once again Packers don't adjust 2nd half and the other team does. Once ATL went into press mode, the Packers productivity went down significantly. I was going to say "that with so many injuries, we were lucky it was even close". But if AR is on, this is what we can do even with 2nd stringers but didn't do last year because MM is (fill in the blank) who will keep throwing to Adams even when he was dropping everything.

So we need to take this new style and go on a winning streak - scheme how to get a speedster (not Jordy) open deep and learn how to not let a RB out of the backfield kill you.

That along with many of the great posts and observations on this gave me a lot of insight into this game. I was only able to watch the last 6 minutes, read the stats, and see a highlight or two.

Thanks. What I first felt was the sting of the loss after being so close and seeing us cough up a late lead yet again. I did keep track of the score throughout and wondered what the hell happened in the 2nd half. Now I know. Lots of positives going forward if play a whole game like 1st half so we end up being much farther ahead. MM hopefully has learned what this team is capable of when he is not being so......

Pop quiz: Name another defense starting with a dime corner in base and a corner who wouldn't even see the field in dime situations in addition to missing their top edge rusher? You can't. This is the Packer defense. It can be successful against teams with limited weaponry at the skill positions (QB, WR, RB) but against a competent QB with pieces? Not gonna happen. The offense is going to have to put up a lot of points against teams like Atlanta and then pray for turnovers. That's a hard proposition especially when you're playing with 3rd string talent and are one injury away from playing with guys who aren't even activated on game days. Anyone who blames Capers for this needs to have their heads examined. If you do, then rewind to 2013 and blame McCarthy for all the losses in Aaron's absence.

The Packers are going to have tough sledding against the Colts. Matthews has to play. No pass rush and you'll see 30+ put up by Indy. Indy is a must win. They have Washington and Philly on the road. I predict they split. Seahawks at home is loss as is Lions on the road. Given Minnesota's ineptitude on offense they should be able to beat the Vikings at home but it'll be close. At 4-3 they can only afford 3 more losses and hope to get in at 10-6 as a wild card.

Prediction: Packers go 9-7 and miss the playoffs.

"I'm not dumping on Jake Ryan entirely"

You shouldn't at all. Asking him to cover Sanu in the Redzone is folly. This is why Capers usually plays so much Dime to end a game. Because he want to reduce the risk of getting caught with this kind of match up and they can't use a timeout.

Belechik put 2nd and 3rd string QB's in and went 3-1. Ok, so maybe they will rename the Lombardi trophy to the Belechik trophy one day but I'm tired of all the excuses. Somethings wrong with our training to have all these hamstring injuries and something's always wrong the scheming - either it's offense or defense and somethings always wrong with our special teams. Let's see - I know - blame it on our WR's not getting open.

It's going to feel pretty bad missing the playoffs this year. But I'm also tired of getting blown out of the playoffs by some stupid mistake. So maybe this will lead to fixing the problem with a few years left in AR.

All points are being mentioned but as I said all week, a certain individual on defense needed to play well against a better offense to merit the praise being given thus far. Perry yet again took a page from the Matthews playbook and disappeared leaving him still less than a solid B rated player and putting doubt into keeping him.
Peppers gone, Perry likely gone, Matthews stealing money.
A loss next week should have the entire media questioning why coaching and GM changes aren't a hotter topic in GB.

The play of the whole defense is noted but the play of one, who after 4 negative years as a #1 selection and touted by recent play against lesser offenses, needed to show value to justify a new deal. Especially when valued play must be achieved against the better come playoff time, lest the same result as has been recently.
Moments of shine are good in regular season games, but a teams assumed standout most shine in games that have crucial effects. Yesterday was a game that was one for Perry. More will come this season but he's 0-1 at the moment and the loss of Matthews cannot be used as excuse to build one's own reputation or by others here at Cheeseheadtv.

More of a D scheme letdown IMO. Capers needed to use him in more of a CM3 role. Keep the D guessing what angle he is coming from. Where he lined up all day Sunday was very vanilla and easy for ATL to adjust too.

Taryn,

I usually stand up for you. I think you get treated poorly by too many around here - and I will forever defend your right to state what you think.

That said, you are wrong about Perry. He's been playing great this year. The only thing that could keep him away from a BIG contract here would be another injury at this point.

He looks good not great against lesser offenses and has failed to play above C or C+ grade vs better offenses. You cannot give BIG contracts to guys who don't show up when you need them to.

2 things...

1. You can't predict injuries when drafting. I think we can all agree that has hindered Perry's developement and contribution over the years.

2. Perry was drafted at the end of the 1st round. Every year there is only a handful of "locks" in the first round, maybe 20.

I think it's unfair to criticize TT's first round picks without acknowledging his overall body of work in a draft. I'll take missing on late first rounders when you're finding guys like Mike Daniesl in round 4

Love to see Perry playing better (in his 5th season). -- But, of course you're right. -- He's another disappearing act when it counts most. -- I'd say nothing if he were a 5th round draft pick or later or an UDFA. --- However, he isn't.

capers should have blitzed on the final drive. so what if they give up a big play for a td. they gave it up anyway and with little time on the clock for the offense to operate.
MM saying he needed to run the ball more in the second half when they had scored 24 points with 4-5 receiver sets??? so they changed the scheme in the third quarter when they could have gotten a nice cushion if they had stuck to what was working. MM and Capers are both to blame.

I think on the last drive especially Ryan was getting the ball out pretty quickly. Capers sent Hyde once on the blitz and Ryan dumped the ball off immediately into the flat over him (always pass to the side the pressure comes from). Pressure "almost" got there, but the Falcons were making the plays they needed to.

I agree most of our blitzes were suicide runs that never got home. We needed more from the base guys winning their one-on-ones.

And on THAT play Hyde was held. They showed the play again and Aikman even commented about Atlanta getting away with one. That was a HUGE play in that drive. Back them up 10 yards what happens then??

Add a game ball for nice call on 2 point conversion. Not a big deal but still a nice call.
Lame call on Capers for almost always using coverage in late game situations and almost always failing. No pressure or blitzes, terrible job by the defense wasting our best offensive effort of the season. Thanks, Since '61

"terrible job by the defense wasting our best offensive effort of the season. Thanks, Since '61"

Our offense scored once in the 2nd half against a suspect Atlanta defense.

Expected the depleted defense to struggle against the NFL's top rated offense. Disappointed that they gave up that last TD but only gave up 14 points in the 2nd half.

But it was also a depleted offense against a suspect Atlanta.

No Lacy/Starks/Monty/Cobb. I was impressed they put up 32 points with the cast they had.

No doubt some very good things happened on offense yesterday. Just disappointing to score 24 in the 1st half and then see Atlanta make better adjustments and use the clock better than McCarthy....only to score one TD in the 2nd half of a shoot out.

True enough about Capers and not my favorite scheme. A couple of things stand out. Scheme aside, our studs up front didn't win enough and didn't do enough to disrupt the pocket. Our coverage was good for a decimated secondary but our coverage was not really all that good. Some guys needed to step up and make a difference regardless of what scheme was in play. On defense we didn't have any real playmakers when we needed them.

More than anything, this game boiled down to who had the ball last - particularly since neither defense were all that good.

I'm happy with how Rodgers went through his reads and spread the ball around today - Nelson, Janis, Davis and Allison all caught TDs. His final number of 6.5 Y/A wasn't good (he was at ~8.5 at the half iirc), but overall a lot less forcing the ball and a lot more taking what the defense gave them.

For people who have access to tape - was that Cover 2 that the Falcons were in when Jordy caught the 58 yarder? I was surprised to see it, whatever it was.

I think it was some kind of man cover with the FS deep, maybe Cover 1 or some kind of double on one of our receivers, the fs bite in an underneath dig and that free J. Nelson

I half eat crow. Thought the Julio vs Jordy show would be embarrasing. Seeing Julio limping before the game and knowing he was jurt the whole game was disgusting on Atlanta's part.
Seeing Dom assign two defenders to Julio who was limping leaving others open is more disgusting.

Goodson was in perfect position. He wasn't at fault for that TD. HHCD was helping to cover Julio. I believe it was Burnett who failed his assignment in helping to cover the inside. Goodson was doing his job and shouldn't have gotten the blame.

I also don't think you could trust that Jones was truly hurt. Until he came out of the game I think you have to assume he's healthy enough to burn you. I don't blame Capers for sticking with the double coverage to be honest. We'd all be up in arms if we found out Jones was acting and burned us deep with only single coverage.

It's a gamble but when you have games where you rack up 100+ regularly that's what happens.

Absolutely no reason to have Jake Ryan on Sanu on that last TD.

This offense just cannot put it together for a full game. Had a great first half and a very quiet second half. Rodgers looked more like his 09-14 self though which was good to see.

Game Balls: Davis, Allison, Rip, Goodson/Gunter (come on they are like PS CBs that came in and played pretty dang well all things considered)

On the Sanu TD, Jones cleared the area, pulling two defenders with him, leaving one defender, a LB at that, to handle a WR. So, either way, you lose. If the winning TD was caught by Jones in single coverage, we'd be complaining about that.

Wow!! --- What a nasty post.
But I can appreciate some reality. -- After Indy at home the Pack have to take on the Titans, Washington and the Feagles on the road (4-4, 4-3-1, 4-3). The Pack struggle on the road against teams that win at least half their games. -- The Pack season could be determined in the next 4 weeks. --- That's reality.

Thanks for your first post ever.

ARod had a QB rating of 125.5, which is quite a bit higher than what you get for the lame-ass post above.

ARod's day: 246 yards with 4 TD's and no INTs. 73.7 completion rate, 60 rushing yards with a two point conversion.

Try not to be such a clown.

I think Lacy will resign a 1 year deal. (seems to be the way the Packers like to do it lately).

I'm guessing Starks will be gone. Jackson will be back to compete and they will draft a RB.

My question though after seeing the offense with Montgomery as the top RB. Is Lacy restricting the offense? I love Lacy. But I question whether he is a good fit for this offense moving forward?

Lacy is a good receiver. But as a dump off/screen type of player. He isn't a guy that can be used like Montgomery out of the backfield. (to be fair not many RB's can).
But Lacy's best used as a traditional type of RB. A guy who is behind a FB and running down hill.

The problem with that is the Packers offense (right now anyways) is best to spread teams out with 4-5 WR's. I just wonder if the offense would be better if they had a LeSean McCoy type of RB.

Message to the "Fire Capers" crowd:

You're being ridiculous.

Missing the top 3 CBs, the Packers started their #4 and #5 CBs vs. the League's #1 offense and the league's best WR.
They were missing the bell cow OLB.

They had a chance to win this game in the final seconds.

Respectfully, GTFOHWTS. Seriously.
