I don't understand why any Packers fan would look past the Commanders in this game. We almost lost at home last season to them when Taylor Heinicke was their starting QB.

Couple that with the fact that the Commanders have a pretty formidable defensive line, similar to the Jets: Montez Sweat, the two DTs from Alabama in Jonathan Allen and DaRon Payne, and it could be another long day for our O-line. (We should also thank our lucky stars that Chase Young is still not back yet from his torn ACL).

Rodgers doesn't trust his O-line or his WRs right now, which has led to this disaster of an offense. Add to that that LaFleur refuses to run this offense through Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon and you have a recipe for disaster. It also sounds like Bakhtiari's knee flared up again, but maybe Nijman can rotate back to LT and we can see Jenkins move back to LG next week.

We just can't seem to block anyone right now -- and defenses are completely fine with playing only one safety deep and bringing the other down into the box to stuff the run.

Regretfully, my prediction: Commanders 19, Packers 13.

"Add to that that LaFleur refuses to run this offense through Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon and you have a recipe for disaster."

People need to stop with this "LeFleur refuses to run the ball" idea.
Here's my three proofs it's probably not LeFleur:

1) Respected analysts far and wide say the Packers run more RPO's than any other NFL team right now. Last week, someone said the amount of RPO's they run is more in line with what you'd see from a college offense. RPO = Run/Pass OPTION. That's the QB making the decision at the LOS at the snap of the ball to Run or Pass.

2) Just two weeks ago, Aaron Jones told the media that between himself and AJ Dillion, he'd always bet the bank that they would gain 2 yards with 2 downs to do so. That's great, NFL players should have that confidence. The more insightful comment Jones made was his follow up statement: "Of course, I don't know everything that Aaron is seeing out there." The implication is clear: Rodgers is the man deciding if they're going to run it or pass it. See #1.

3) We had the exact. same. issues. with under utilization of the run game under Mike McCarthy, who also famously said 'we need to get more rush attempts' after nearly every game. That's two different HC's, two different offensive schemes. Same scenario. Oh, and for good measure, a total of 5 different offensive coordinators with Rodgers at the helm, including Edgar freaking Bennet. I would submit that it's more likely the QB, who has been the constant, is the issue with commitment to the run, as opposed to every combination of HC and OC over the last 12 years.

Extra context:

We all know MM famously "handed Aaron the keys" to the offense in 2010/2011. No one has ever been able to take them back (Except for a 2-3 week stint in 2015 where MM was so disgusted with Tom Clements' handling of the offense and submission to an increasingly defiant Aaron Rodgers that MM took back play calling duties, took away Rodgers' ability to audible out of the play call, and even went so far one week to forbid Rodgers to make adjustments that weren't part of designed play. The Packers offense started to hum again, and MM gave control back to Rodgers.) I still contend it was that 2-3 week period in 2015 that set the stage for Rodgers to completely submarine MM. He never forgave MM for daring to challenge his autonomy, and moreover, it was a massive blow to Rodgers' ego because MM proved he was RIGHT.

Another bummer Bakh is out today. Not only it impedes the chance of reshuffling now the whole oline is the weak link no continuity at all. Though we have Jenkins who is good oline is mostly Rhythm based us continuously shuffling the oline either becoz of the injuries or too much to trail and test has only failed previous years.

Rogers is returning punts only because he can’t crack the receiver corps and they have to have him do something while they wait out the duration of him being a bust. But since he can’t really help the return game they need to put someone there who won’t hurt them.

Between the officiating and our pathetic offense this game is unwatchable. We are essentially watching the Packers without Aaron Rodgers because he is just not getting it done unless he gets a defensive penalty.

75 yards of offense in the first half is unacceptable. The OL is still a mess. If the Packers hang on to win it will be Washington beating themselves which they seem to be very capable of doing. Thanks, Since ‘61

I don't think the OL is a mess. I'm actually kind of impressed they're doing as well as they are all things considered.

Nijman is playing like a guy who hasn't played in a while. Must stop grabbing. But otherwise? Not so bad.

Side note: considering a number of posters here at CHTV were calling out that Zach Tom must be a bust because the Packers couldn't even slide him in at RG so far.. for the Packers to debut him at LT is a massive vote of confidence in the young man. I guess we now know what the Packers have been thinking about Zack Tom's future.

Aaron Jones with 3 carries for 14 yards on the opening drive plus a reception for 3 yards, but the drive was killed by a Lazard drop. Bend don't break. GB made a mistake and can't overcome.

Jones now has 14 yards on 6 carries. Gains some, loses some. No deep passes that i can remember except the uncatchable to Watkins.

Since one good half of defense is done. Now we gave up a TD. All the teams with no name qb's or shorthanded on wr's teams ran at will at us and score when setting up the run.

Coming offense if run game stalls the offense stalls and to make matter's worse penalties on oline killing drives. We ran that successfull drive very well and scored a TD that's about it after that their dline is getting the penetration

This is not a team that can go down the field dinking and dunking due to the mistakes. Can't pick a 3rd and 8, either. Inaccurate pass to Doubs coupled with a drop to end another drive. AR needs to make things easier for the rookie WRs, and Doubs needs to help he QB out more. GB has a way of compounding their errors and misdemeanors into drive killers.

Washington with a lot of plays and TOP tipping in their favor.

This isn’t all on Rodgers. He has no weapons besides his running backs. He hasn’t played well but we are paying an offensive tackle who doesn’t play. The line is awful. The defense is tired and knew Washington would play good since Heineke is much better than Weintz. This is the packers offense and will be with or without Rodgers. So fans better get use to it. It’s only gonna get worse when Packers play the elite teams in the league. Also coaching is horrid wasting your challenges in a close game. I thought Lafluer was a good coach but it was Rodgers running this offense last two years and know he’s showing his age so this now you see how inept this offense is when Rodgers isn’t elite anymore. Packers Super Bowl window has closed and had their chance the last two years and blew it.

Don’t disagree one but he’s not a role model or person I would look up to in life. Not a good person outside of football. All I’m saying is that he’s showing age and a good coach would know what to do with an aging qb. Lafluer doesn’t know how to adjust during a game or use the talent he has on this team to run his offense. Rodgers is old with a coach that also is stale running an offense or adjusting to what he has. Run the ball with jones every play until it doesn’t work is my opinion of this offense.

I wouldn't say he completely overthrew Amari.. Amari did layout and have a chance for the completion.

That being said, yeah, if the ball was thrown 6" shorter, it's probably a TD because it would have been a perfect pass.

I'm not holding that against Aaron OR Amari. That's just a play that was really close to being exceptional, but fell short.

You’re one of my favorite folks on this forum, but yes, even you can choke on your own foot now and then. Great throw to AJ for a TD though.

It's too late i am afraid. With 3 mins left it's a challenge to stop their run and then our offense getting in to scoring zone for FG i doubt it happens

One hope now. The Commanders find a way to beat themselves in the final minutes. They are just the team to do it.

Not quite a dagger. Jaire vs. McLaurin with enormous pressure on Heinecke and it is good for a first down. Strength on strength and it went Washington's way. Credit to Heinecke and McLaurin. Need a mistake or huge play.

How is the packer defense the only defense in a decade to give up 3rd and long for a first every time it matters. It’s their kryptonite and getting old. Playoffs regular season this is the only defense that continually gives up that play. So when we bash Rodgers remember he’s dealt with the same play for a decade to cost them games while he watches. He’s not what he used to be but he always has that 3rd and long you know will turn into a first down.

We have given up so many 3rd and longs this last 3-4 games. The teams run good against this team and then sets up the pass

Punted it instead of trying a 54 yard field goal.

We have a worst offense and bad defense. Offense cant get any momentum and score points. Too many mistakes be it qb or wr's drops or oline holds.

Coming to Defense this defense gets run down by no name qb's all year long. Very poor football team atleast some struggling teams have a good one side of the ball. We are playing poor on both sides of the ball and defense playing slightly better than the offense that's it.

Offense can't get 3rd downs and defense cant stop on 3rd and longs. That has been the story for this season.
Dont say it's a long season and we still have time no we dont. There is no way this team can make to playoffs this year.
May be it's time to pick up some picks by trading few ppl.

Lousy coaching.
Players playing like they hate the O or D scheme they are playing.
Playmakers looking very pedestrian.
MVP playing like PVM (Poor Very Messy...have another cup of $50 Mil tea!).

Been interesting with so many intelligent CH fan comments...but I am out for a while. This team is submerged in negativity. Team, fans, writers...why invest in this negative shit...simply schadenfreude now.

Better things to do. Later Packer Fans!

Brutal. We are stuck with a useless Relic with a 40's Nazi haircut, he blames everyone else and can't convert a 3rd down. Salary Cap is shot for years. Go Pack Go.
