What is Amari Rogers fumble percentage on returns? It's got to be record-breaking. Add in all the bobbles muffs, etc he has absolutely no punt or kickoff return skills. I have so little faith in this coaching staff.

Never seen a returner fumble as often as he has, but that's probably because of the obvious no one would still be allowed to with that track record.

Going into this weekend, Amari Rodgers has 18 returns...only two other players have more. He has been charged with 4 fumbles, including one that was lost.

Punts get mishandled a lot. A LOT . That's why you should just fair catch and give the ball to the offense.

Rodgers' thumb is nowhere near as bad as the time Favre injured his thumb, but it's clearly limiting. This game and the Detroit game is clearly showing Love should be playing. Like the time with Favre, too afraid to play the backup because don't want to make starter upset or no faith in backup.

and soon as i pick on rodgers he makes a good throw :)

A good tough effort by the team so far. Ford having a career game....he'll be telling his kids about the time he got two interceptions in the first half against the Cowboys.

The defense has taken the field 5 times, and four of those time, gave up no points. Success rate= 80%.
The offense has taken the field 4 times, and was successful once. Success rate = 25%

I was wondering if edp has an explanation for this.

Rudy Ford has been doing great - could he be Savage's long term replacement? Regardless, the Packers should keep him.

This also proves how stupid Barry is for saying that we don't have any better safeties than Savage, who is still bad in the nickel spot btw. I don't know if I want the Packers to win, though, because they still probably won't make the playoffs and I want Will Anderson next year!

If this team can come back and show that they are contenders, though, then I won't care about next year's draft. For me, I'd prefer either Super Bowl or top draft pick. Being average is what I don't want this team to be, because they will miss out on top draft talent and go nowhere in the playoffs

We've been successful on 40% of our offensive possessions, and that's respectable. IF we can score 14 more in the second half, it'd give us 28 and that'd be our top scoring game of the season .

So the defense was successful on 4 of 6 drives, including two takeaways. Success rate = 66.7%

The offense was successful on two out of five, including one turnover. Success rate = 40%

You say we gave up the TD; I'd say the Cowboys earned a TD. Did the Cowboys give up that TD to Watson, or was it a perfectly executed play by the Packers? I'd also say it's kind of unrealistic to expect the Cowboys to only have one score in a half.

Gotta have Alexander travel with Lamb. Run D is nothing to write home about. AR is 4 of 6 with two drops.

This defense just routinely lets the air out of the balloon. I do realize that the two INTs are what kept GB in the game. One stop or even a hold for a field goal would have allowed the Packers to go into the locker room up on the scoreboard. Dallas gets the ball first.

This is a pivotal half in Packer history, IMO. If the Packers prevail, there'll be hope, if they do not, I think the ship starts taking on water. This could be Rodgers last gasp.

We have thrown SIX passes in the first half. SIX. I want everybody to reconsider just how important superduper WRs are. 14 points. And we've only completed 4, and 3 of those were for 15. Of course, there was one downfield strike. And if we can score points throwing the ball six times, then what does that say about a future with Love?

That does not mean we should spend a top-10 draft pick on a WR next year. When you're picking that high, overall talent trumps positional value.

If we block with our 5 OL, a TE, and Lazard on the move, that gives us 7 blockers. I like the math.

The end of the road is in sight, but Rodgers is throwing the ball into the armpits of these guys. If you can't catch that, you can't catch.

I know catching punts is hard, and returning punts is harder, and there's an awful lot of turnovers and injuries on punts, and big returns are few and far between. It's a loser's gamble, IMO.

Too late. I think I've been pretty patient and pretty fair, but our season is on the line and he can't even do the most basic thing in football. Thou Shalt Not Hurt The Team. His entire job is to catch a couple of punts a game. Not nearly as easy as some people seem to think.

It's also kind of clear our WR group in the future is going to include Watson, Doubs, and Toure, and whoever we add this offseason. So he's not going to be much of a piece of our passing game unless the people ahead of him are hurt or playing poorly.

I'd let the rest of the team know that if you're hurting the team, you've gotta go.

It’s not Amari Rodgers… it’s the clueless head coach that keeps putting him out there.
MLF has a bad history of sticking with people that can’t get the job done…. Drayton cost GB the 21 season. Amari Rodgers probably put the nail in the coffin on the dreadful 22 season.

As I pointed out in the snap counts article, the Lions on their 4 straight drives for points only faced one third down and scored 24 points in the first half even though they only had 2 third down plays and converted one of them. 50% isn't good, but when the defense can't even force third downs, that suggests that the defense is, in fact, having a bad day.

Alexander burned badly; might as well play tighter covereage.
However, if we score the next touchdown we're back in the game. No panic.
Don't blame it on Amari Rodgers, who was hit hard in a triple-tackle.
Let's see if Aaron Rodgers can throw a complete pass in the middle of the field. In any case, somehow, he's gotta be the man.

Blaming Amari Rodgers is simplistic.
Time for Aaron Rodgers to step up as we enter the fourth quarter.
More passes in the middle of the field, and more on target than the one to Watkins -- although I'm glad for that completion in the middle of the field.
By the way, rooting for Aaron Rodgers to lead the way!

He's not a blocking back. He should have ten TDs combined, by the end of the year. Injuries held him back.
Doubs could be back for the end of year push, if they can continue winning. They saw the writing on the Wall. Gutey made a move on Barry, picking up Abram as a SS. Ford, big time reason why he should have been in the lineup and Savage out. I would not keep Savage around, or Amari. Lazard running the slant to perfection, WCO style. Those are Walsh's Plays.

That's fair. They are situational guys, though. They had guys like Lancaster and Pennel (who was useful when he could stay out of trouble off the field) who were run stuffers.

The guys who play are 313 pound Clark, and guys who weigh less in Lowry (296) and Reed (either 306 or 313 depending on the site). I suppose that is big enough. Maybe it is playing just 2 DL for so long, although the true DL/play number is way up this year.

To be fair, Clark is a 310 lb lineman who has the functional strength, anchor, and technique of a 335 lb NT.

That's what makes him special. He's not your typical 310 lbs DT. He plays the position with every bit the tenacity and anchor or Ryan Pickett.

That was the kind of game the Packers needed, and I'm glad Watson got the monkey off his back and the fans get to feel good about winning again.

Iffy one by the defense today, but I suppose two picks resulting in 14 points for the offense helps ease that.

The downside is that now a bunch of you morons are going to believe there's hope for the season, and therefore, will yell and bitch you can't bench Rodgers to start giving Jordan Love play time.

The Packers aren't making a deep run this season- I do believe they will get back to winning, as I'm on the record stating since the loss in London- but this isn't their year. The #1 objective for the good of the Packers long term future is to get Jordan Love significant play time in multiple games to fully evaluate him in live NFL action and see what they've got before the end of the season comes and they have to make a decision on his 5th year option.

I agree play Love so we see our future at qb is bad so we realize life after Rodgers means we better find the right qb. He’s not
the answer and love packerland thinking he’s the second coming of greatness. I want him to play so we get past this and fans realize we need to figure out that position on the roster before we waste Arron Jones and what elite players we have left!

How do you know he's not the answer? You know, about 70% of packers fans were sure Aaron Rodgers was a bum, even after his first full year of starting (even though he actually played quite well, but the team went 6-10).

What I'm getting at here is, fans are fucking idiots and have no idea what they're looking at. I wonder, Cwilly, were you one of the fans that was booing Rodgers from the side of the road at Ray Nitschke field during 2008?

I'm curious to hear what it is about Love that makes you sure he doesn't have the ability to be a starting QB in the NFL. Give me the break down.

Yeah, because he played horribly.

Nobody knew what Aaron Rodgers was capable of in 2008, but fans still booed him anyways. Even while he played good football throughout the season, they booed him anyways. Why? Because he wasn't Brett Favre, and a lot of fans have no idea what good QB play looks like- they only know to cheer if there's a TD.

For the record, you could play last weeks game on loop for eternity, and I'll boo Rodgers forever more with a clear conscience.

You talking about the Chiefs' game that he had two days to prepare for? The one where he was blitzed at a 55% rate? In one of the loudest, most difficult stadiums to play in across the entire NFL? For his debut NFL start?

No, it wasn't pretty, but he played better as the game wore on. And that game is a great example of most fans not knowing what they're looking at. Love put a lot of good on film that day as well. Mainly, with exception to the very end of the game, he protected the football under absolute siege. He always knew where his outlets were, and when he didn't have time and/or everyone was covered, he knew where he could safely throw the ball away and where his eligibles who may have been in to block were at as well. That demonstrated a lot of poise under pressure.

This year in pre and limited end of game reps he's shown zip and gets the ball out quickly. He's got an NFL arm and seems to know the offense. THere's lots of good to be seen for Love if you know where to look. The only real question is does he have "it", and you only know from live action in real games, like any other position in the NFL.

Exactly. You don't know either way, whether he's a bum or a star until he actually plays

Awesome win.
As my prior comments show, I was really into it all the way, and pleased with Rodgers with his mix of run and pass -- but him being a prick at the end is not a small problem unless Rodgers is humble enough to offer his head coach a sincere apology.
Otherwise, this win, for all its exhilaration, is fool's gold.

Nobody made Rodgers flip out on his coach at the end of regulation. Rodgers did that. It didn't help him win anything. It does just make him a dick. It is what it is.

Screw it...despite where we may not be going this season and despite how we sucked the last 5 weeks, it was nice to see the Packers have some fight. I am just going to enjoy this one:)

Sorry Rodgers haters...this was him throwing dimes and winning a game...he got pissed a stupid play call, just like he did when McCarthy was coach when he said and the mic's picked it up.."that was a stupid fuckin' call"....I guess he doesn't change every single play hey...break out game for Watson, and even Watkins made some valuable yardage...instead of picking apart every eye roll of Rodgers I'm going to enjoy this one...have a nice evening!!! Beer time!!

You people do know that Rodgers will be back next year, right?? I sure hope so..he'd be a fool to turn down that much cash plus this team should find itself with the young kids by then...I hope...

If you want to nitpick, he sometimes locked into one guy as he tends to do and did not look at other options. His deepballs have more arc to them than say Dak’s, and his placement isn’t as precise as it once was. But whatever, he got the job done.

I’m all for him chewing out the coach on that 4th Q call.

There's an assumption he was calling out MLF for the call based on the interpretation of the TV announcers.

Consider that it's entirely possible that MLF called in a run play, Rodgers decided to throw it, and MLF made a comment to Rodgers over the radio about changing the play- then Rodgers snapped back at MLF about his decision (which is what we saw on TV.)

Not saying that's what happened, we won't know until they are asked (and if they decide to reveal what happened.) I'm just pointing out that the standing narrative is based off a short clip with an interpretation provided by the broadcast booth who has no more idea of what transpired than we do.

Against this Dallas defense? I’ll take it. Our defense, though up and down, managed some very impressive and timely turnovers. Some people in here post like they wanted us to lose for whatever reason. If this turns us around? Hell yeah. If this was just us owning Dallas? Hell yeah. If this was our last win of the season? Hell yeah?

This was a well played game, which was more than i expected. And they won! spectacularly, even, and in the way they used to. I didn’t think they had it in them. You have to tip your hat to them. Very nice .
